Any other vegetarians?

I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian, as is the rest of my family. (Can't give up the cheese.) Does anyone have any tips for veggies at WDW? I think I remember Marrakesh (my fave) having veggie couscous, but I don't remember many other meatless dishes on other menus.

What are good spots for a veggie to eat at, especially in Epcot?

Hi fellow vegetarian!

Almost every restaurant onsite has an ovo-lacto selection on their menu ==> and almost every restaurant will accomodate your food preferences.

I would suggest purchasing "Vegetarian Walt Disney World, 2nd Edition: The Essential Guide fro the Health-Conscious Traveler

This is the perfect guide to what you are looking for. Also, do a search on vegetarian on this board because there have been so many great discussions on this very topic already. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for!

I'm a vegetarian too....you'll be able to find tons of things to eat. Even the counter service places in MK have veggieburgers. Boma is awesome, they had lots of veggie stuff on the buffet. I've never had a problem finding things to eat at WDW. Also check out www.allearsnet.com. There is a whole section on vegetarian AND vegan dining, along with food choices at different places.

Good call! I forgot to mention that one.

I've had so many wonderful meals at WDW! I think one of my favorites is the stuffed tomato at 50sPTC! :)

DS is a vegetarian and a few of the suggestions we have read about are for Spoodles and California Grill. It is suggested that you call a day in advance and the chefs are very happy to make something for you. Boma and Jiko have won awards for their veggie menu seledtions. Even ESPN and Beaches and Cream serve veggie burgers.

ESPN also has their amazing portobello mushroom sandwich. I was working there when they introduced it and I swear I've had 30 of them...and still crave them, over a year later!

I used to go through the hassle of calling ahead, but I have learned that it is not necessary. As long as you aren't a terribly picky vegetarian, there is plenty to choose from - without making special arragement. WDW is one of the few places I enjoy eating out because I typically have CHOICES of well prepared, nicely seasoned food. I've been a vegetarian my whole life (39 years) and in the past 10 years or so many restaraunts have begun to offer one, maybe two vegetarian options - but they usually aren't very good. For some reason many people think Vegetarians like bland food - not me! All of the restaurants have at least one vegetarian entree - just ask if you don't see if on the menu.

As mentioned - Boma is GREAT. I typically do not like any type of buffet, but I could eat about 2/3 of the items on the buffet, and everyone of them was wonderful. I also have had good luck ordering Portobella mushrooms at the "steak houses" (Canada's restaurant and WL's steak house - can't remember their names). The mushrooms come nicely seasoned and well presented. It's fun to put steak sauce on them. The first time I got a mushroom like this at WL's restaurant, my husband tried to send it back - he thought it was a steak!

Finally - my favorite meal is at the Rose and Crown - they have a mushroom appetizer which they make into a meal size portion for me. It is a variety of mushrooms in a cream sauce served over a biscut. I know it must have a gazillion calories because of the cream sauce, but it is SOOOOOOO good!

Enjoy all the choices and great food!!

You will be just fine- trust me!!

Even very "meat-centric" places have vegitarian options and if you really have your heart set on dining somewhere that doesn't look to veg-friendly, just call ahead to the chef and let them work their magic. Take a look at the menus at wdwig.com and see what strikes your fancy. I would recommend eating at full service restaurants if you can afford to. Not only are they wonderful, I think they are even more so for vegitarians who can't find really good and different veg food in their hometowns.

Enjoy!
