Any other tall people think they are going to die on SM

I am 6'7'' and I swear whenever I ride SM, I think my head is going to be lopped of by one of the supports. I love coasters, but hate SM. When I do ride it I try to sit in the front sit where I can stick my legs in the nose cone and slunch down in the seat a little. I am sure the ride is safe, but as I am sitting in the countdown the thought of "Huh, I wonder if they thought about this when they built this ride" always goes through my head. I wish I could ride it with the lights one, just once to see that there is probably a good 5 or 6 inches between my head and those poles.

I'm only 5'9" and thought I was "sitting up" too high in it...felt like I was going to be thrown out easily.

but, if you've every seen Space mountain with the lights on inside....when they say keep your arms down - they MEAN it!

My dh, 6'4", felt the same way!! At 5'8" so did I. I try to not even lean over too much. I never want to see SM with the lights on. I'd never go back on it.

Nothing about Space scares my boyfriend more than the belief that he's about to get whacked in the head.;) It's made for munchkins!

My husband is 6'11' and he has only been on the ride once. He said he won't go on again. Not because of the hitting his head issue, but rather the bruises that he got in his legs from the bar...those suckers didn't go away for a few days

I hear you loud and clear on this one. I am also 6'7 and have the exact same feeling. My son loves the ride, so I always go on it with him, but hate that about to be decapitated feeling it gives me.

I'm not tall--very short, in fact (5'1"), but I'm the type of person who rides roller coasters with their hands in the air. My DH always gets so mad at me when I do this on SM. He spends the whole ride yelling at me to put my hands down. He's convinced that I'm going to lose a hand. :D

I've always wondered about this too... if you raise your hands on SM, surely you are going to hit something. But on the other hand, I've never heard any injury stories about this. Has anyone else?

Yep, my husband is also scared of loosing his noggin.

I feel like this, too, when I'm on SM, but I really think those beams must be farther away than they look, because someone would have lost an arm or a head by now!

I'm only 5'8, but, I've rode SM several times with my hands in the air....that's a good 2 feet or so above my head....I've never hit my hands or anything.....I don't think anyone should have to worry about hitting their heads no matter how tall they are....now, a tall person raising their hands might be a different story....

i'm fairy short (5'4) and I am scared about raising my hands on the ride. My husband who is 6'1 kept leaning back a million times saying don't raise your arms... i couldn't imagine riding it if i were tall...

I am only 5'4 and I still scoot as far down in the seat as possible and I would never dream of lifting my arms. I guess in reality I don't think I will really loose an appendage but I always worry! Better safe than sorry for me! I will continue to scoot. lol:scared1:

Me too! I am only 5'4" (barely, LOL) and I also feel like I am going to wack my head on something! Riding in the front of the car is even worse--it's all part of the thrill, I guess--that feeling of hurtling through the great unknown deep dark space..... I am pretty sure that even Mr 6'11" can safely ride, though. Arms up is another story, but I have never heard of any injuries to appendages on SM.

You aren't kidding !!! I was on SM one time and they stopped the ride and turned all of the lights on immediately, because someone was sticking their arms ( or something) too far out of the car. It was freaky!

Disney doesn't do munchkins -they do small world people. ;)

My husband is 6'4 and he put his hands up and actually "touched" something. Be careful. I think someone did actually have a finger injury on Space Mountain.
