Rook is probably my all-time favorite card game. It's a game that has little to do with luck (although being dealt a great hand doesn't hurt), and more to do with strategy and timing.
When I was in College (many moons ago), we used to have rook tournaments all the time. I never won, but it was fun to be part of some very intense, well played games.
BTW, we used to play Rook low, to make it a bit more challenging, and yet the average bid used to go on a regular basis between 150 and 170.
