Any other resort guests drive to parks?

So what exactly would they do if you returned early? Would they charge you a different rate automatically on your charge?

Yes, that's what people here told me. I didn't believe them, so I called National, and they told me that's exactly what they'd do. Apparently this is a standard practice amount all the car rental companies. Doesn't make any sense to me thought. If they've determined its profitable to rent a car for 7 days for $100, why wouldn't they let me have it for 4 days for $100? I just don't get it. It ended up costing National my business because I decided to rent from Budget.

If it were me, I'd write a letter or an email to National telling them exactly why you didn't choose their company. While it won't make a difference probably to your specific situation, it may make the company change their policies regarding this.

I'm sure they have these policys in place for a reason - one letter from me isn't going to change their rate structure - and as I said, from what I can tell this is the industry standard. Some have told me it is because they can charge business travellers (who rarely rent for more than a few days) a lot more money. I guess this makes some sense. Anyway, I rent cars so rarely, that this is not a concern.

We always drive to WDW, so we have a car to use. However, we pretty much rely on WDW transportation to get to the parks ( or walk to some if we are in the Epcot resort area). We do use our car to get to ps's at other resorts, going to DTD, playing mini golf etc! If we didn't have our car, I don't know if we would bother with eating at other resorts--it seems like a lot of hassle to rely on WDW transportation to get to those! ;)

We like to use the WDW transport because after 22 hours in the car to get there from NY, it's time to be able to spread out and let someone else do the driving! They don't get lost, they get to take you real close to the gate for dropoff, and we always enjoy talking with the other people on the ride. It's a good way to build up the anticipation on the way in or talk about the day on the ride back to the resort. It is useful to have the car because we can show up with a big load of clothes/food/supplies to get us through our stay, but once we are there then it just sits in the lot until it's time to go home.

I'm a big fan of renting a car.

I've taken Disney Transportation, and it's clean and efficient, but when I want to go, I want to go already! :) It's one less line to wait in.

On my honeymoon, I swore I'd try the bus to get directly to the Magic Kingdom gates, but we still ended up driving.

I'm a control freak. What can I say! :teeth:

We're in SC so we always drive down to WDW! unless we're at Cont. or Poly, when we take the monorail to MK and Epcot, we drive everywhere. DH is a great driver and it's so convenient! It's never a problem.

This past trip over Easter, we were all sick at one point or another and one day DS16 and I were out together and took the buses. YUCK! We hated the waiting, the driving, the standing, etc. It seemed SOOOO much longer to go anywhere with the buses. Will never do them again.

We are with you. The only time we do not drive to a park is when we stay at an epcot resort and are going to MGM or Epcot. Then we take a boat. But other that, we drive.
