Any other Nashville Star watchers out there?

Just curious what y'all think of this seasons' contestants.

I personally don't think any of them are as good as Buddy Jewel or Brad Cotter, but there's one who is close. I think he was Jason Meadows?

I like a few of them, and most of them could sing ring arounds the ones on American Idol. I like Jayron and the girl who sang Here for the party. Jason is good too.

She made it in.

Josh whatsit (the cute kid with the slightly long hair) was voted out. As I recall, he did more guitar playing than singing the first episode, didn't he? I think that's why.

I also liked the girl who sang Here for the Party, but I didn't think that was the best choice song for her.

My favorite girl so far is Tamika, followed by the girl who was so nervous.

I love this show and agree that the talent is way better than AI, although I watch that show too. I think Tamika has the best voice and would be my choice to win.

I still think the first season was the best talent wise, this season is OK but I don't see another Buddy Jewel coming from it. Buddy is really the only former contestant to hit the big time, he's done really well so far.

I heard someone describe Brad Cotter as a "poor mans Keith Urban" on another board. It's mean but so true.

I totally agree. No one's been as good as the top 3 on the first Nashville Star. I do wonder why we haven't heard any of Brad's songs on the radio (at least I don't here)

I saw it last night for the first time and I was really impressed with the talent. Way better than American Idol. Most of them play guitar, which I have yet to see on AI. I would have a hard time picking.

The girl who ran off the stage the first night, what song did she sing last night and was she good?

You know, I now forget what the song was, but I didn't really think it was suited to her voice that well. And I thought she was trying too hard to make up for the previous week. I actually thought the 2 lines she sang the first week were better than her song this week.

I think George Canyon should have won last year. We saw him at the Orpy in September. He has a very good voice and is very talented.

We had a very hard time deciding between George Canyon and Brad Cotter last year. I honestly think George was more "Country" than Brad was, but I could see Brad going farther in radio in general. Of course, having said that, has *anyone* heard any of Brad's songs on the radio lately? I hear Josh Greyson (from AI) more often than I do Brad or Buddy.

I have a couple of friends who work for record companies in Nashville and they say that it is widely known that Brad Cotter is "difficult" to work with. Apparently, he has been trying to make it in the industry long before Nashville Star, but has a bad attitude that people just didn't find appealing. Now that he won NS last year, he has become even more "diva-like" and has turned off a lot of radio station promo people, A&R people, etc. b/c of bad interviews, demands, etc. Now, since I don't work in that industry any longer (used to when I was in college in Nashville), I don't know for sure, but my friends are reliable sources for the scoop!

I live in Atlanta, a pretty large country radio market, and they hardly ever play Brad's music. I also think that George Canyon should have won last year!

I actually heard a George Canyon song on the radio a few weeks back. It was in this radio station's "Slam it or jam it" section where they play new "experimental" songs I guess you could say to see how the radio audience liked it. I didn't hear the results, though.

I don't know, but I'm hoping for the blond gal with the very permed hair who seems to shout her songs instead of sing them.

granted I flip back and forth because it is on at the same time as Amazing Race but I think I was again surprised at who went home. As usual some are growing on me a little, like the buddy holly like guy and some I still don't get. I still favor Jayron and Erika Jo but need a few more weeks to see. How about you?

I just saw this thread. I love this show. I caught it by chance early in the first season and have been watching ever since. the blonde permed girl was from NC like me but she was way to annoying to get very far. I don't think that anyone wowed me last night. I was surprised by Jayron who I wasn't a fan of but I can now see him as mor versitle. I think Tamika is great but she needs a stylist bad. Her outfits are horrible. LOL The only thing that really bigs me about this year are the judges. I love Bret Michaels and seeing him once a week is great but I don't think that they give useful information to the singers. Give more or feel more I don't think is great. The last couple years I think the comments were more helpful.
