I had yet another parent tell me today that her child will be missing a week of school to go to WDW. That makes the 8th one this year! Why do they never offer to take me with them?!?! :teacher:

Seriously, though, they're making it so much harder to wait until 2011!!! :sad2:

I'm with ya, we're not going tell 2011 either and its so hard to wait when you hear of others going before you. Half the fun (well maybe not that much) is looking forward to the trip and planning everything. I have a rubbermaid container filled with somethings I have bought for our trip like fanny packs for the kids, fan sprayers, rain ponchos and such. We also have a huge glass jar and wrote on it "Disney trip 2011" and all of us are adding money to it to help pay for our charater meal and once a month or every other month we watch the disney planning dvd so the magic feels as if its already started.

After reading an article in a recent magazine about travel, my family and I started our Lincoln goes to Disney campaign. Any five dollar bills (Lincoln's portrait, get it?) we get go right into an envelope. No questions asked. It also prevents us from spending as much at home. Its funny because it is almost like we hope to get change back in fives all the time no matter where we are.

One of the pre-K teachers at DS's school is a DVC owner. She gets so excited every time we tell her we're going!
When I took my adults only trip we were at the same resort; I checked in the day she checked out. I was hoping to bump into her. :thumbsup2

Yes I'm a jealous teacher!! However, for once I'm not jealous as I'm going in just 9 weeks! I get very jealous when I realise I have to pay so much more and deal with large crowds though!

I love it! :yay: I think I'll borrow this idea---but since I teach at a private school, I'll have to make mine a "George and Abe Go to Disney" campaign.

AND the heat! :sunny:

I'm a retired elementary librarian. I can go when I want to now! I do understand the jealous part. I hated going in the summer.
I used to tell my students it wasn't fair and tell them to give Mickey a hug for me.

What a great idea!

We save our change up, but August I will have enough to make our deposit on our August 2011 trip. Then I get $200 bonus each quarter and that goes into the fund and any cash my husband has at the end of the week. We figure for the 5 of us to go, (room, tickets, fly and meals) we will pay out about $1000

We are blessed with our DVC that we can now go at least once a year, and we've been fortunate enough to go two and even three times a year recently!!!

What a great idea! I think I will try that!

I do agree that teachers get the short end of the deal and end up with big crowds. Try Thanksgiving to avoid the heat - it is great because you get all of the Christmas Decorations also. Some places luck out and have holidays that are different from the rest of the schools, like us in Louisiana - some of us have Mardi Gras - unless if falls with Presidents Day - like this year - then it is very crowded - I think much of the north is off for Presidents Day. We don't go if Presidents Day falls the same week as Mardi Gras.

I sure hope that DD's and DN's teachers of next year are as Disney enthusiastic as all of you are when we tell them they'll be out in Dec next year!

Hope you all have great trips!
Thank you for all you do for our children!

Sorry you guys do so much for us teaching our children and get the short end of the deal.

When I asked my son's teacher how much it would affect him school wise to take him out for a week so we could go durning my daughter's spring break, she said "take that boy to Disney World, and don't even worry about this place." I think she was just as excited as me about getting to go at the end of April.

Geaux Saints, All the Way!
!!! I BELIEVE !!!

I am a very jealous teacher here. I am on the West Coast so short weekend trips don't cut it for me, nor are we allowed to back personal days up against a 3 day weekend. :sad2:

We did just buy into DVC and now we are going for two weeks this summer and a week at Christmas. I told hubby that since we were going during busier times that we needed more time there. :rotfl:

I'm jealous in that we can only go at peak times when travel from the UK coats $$$$ (approx $1300 per person to fly direct in an economy seat!!), then there are the crowds to deal with and in the summer the heat and humidity. I love it when kids from my class go though as a) their parents usually come in for advice and b) they usually bring me a little present back!!
