A little after 8pm. We have had some TINY flickers but our power is still on. This is really amazing. We lose power almost every day. I guess those are from lightening strikes overloading the lines. There has been no lightening here.
The eye, or what was left of it, passed pretty much directly over us. In this case, this was almost a blessing. By the time it got here, it was fairly windy (40 - 50mph) but relatively little rain. The back end of the rotation is blowing through now.
You could actually tell when it came in, the wind shifted. We are still in decent shape.
The real badness, besides where the storm made landfall is actually up in the Daytona area. They have been getting pounded relentlessly by the "feeder bands" all day. These are localized heavy rains and winds on the outer edges of the hurricane. These storms are literally moving at 70mph. With slight calming between these storms, I would not be surprised if people are getting caught in these outside.
It amazes me to hear on TV and the radio how many people are out and about. There are curfews in pretty much all of Central Florida. If you get pulled over (and you will) you can and will be put in jail. The curfew is not in place to hassle you, it is there to protect you AND the law enforcement that is forced to be out in this weather.
I just heard a report from a WDW employee who said that there has been some minor damage around the property, but MK, Epcot, and Typhoon Lagoon will be open tomorrow.
Depending on the weather, I may try to talk Holly into going tomorrow. We are stir crazy and I would like some comfort food, like a Space Mountain Hot Dog.
Glad to hear people are still safe. Continue to be safe.
