Any other "First Visit" surprises?

Hi! My boyfriend and I will be visiting WDW in September. I've been loads of times, but it's his first visit. I noticed when making our dining reservations that you could select "First Visit" as a celebration. Does this mean they might do something special at dinner, in addition to the button? We have reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern, O'hana, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, San Angel Inn, Chef Mickey's Tusker House and Sci-Fi Drive-In. Thanks!

So glad I saw this post, and I look forward to hearing the answers. Somehow, I missed the option to choose a celebration when making our reservation, but I just went pack and added the celebration after seeing your question. Will be DD7 and DD6's first-ever visit to WDW, and we'll be dining at Crystal Palace for lunch. Would be nice if we could get the button at lunch instead of at Guest Services first thing.

They don't guarantee anything, really. But mostly likely you'll be greeted at check-in by the CM acknowledging it's your first visit and be given pins. You might find a little surprise in your room. It's possible you might get something extra, like a dessert, with an ADR-booked dinner.

It varies. Best not to expect anything, that way anything you do get is a bonus.

First timers going here very soon! Won't expect anything, but will love any surprises! :cloud9:

Our Family had our first visit last year. We got the button when we checked in. But other than that we did not get any special treatment at the resort.
At Crystal Palace Tigger gave my children a lot of attention he must of stayed at our table for 20 minutes or more than came back and got my 7 year old dd to lead the parade with him. I don't know if this had anything to do with us wearing our First Time Visit Buttons or not. We also ate at Chef Mickey's, O'Hana's, San Angel Inn, Holly Wood and Vine, Garden Grill, CRT, and The Whispering Cayon Cafe. All the characters were really attentive at the Garden Grill but again I don't know if the button had anything to do with that. As for the other restaurants we didn't receive any special treatment and the servers or CM's didn't even comment on it being our first visit.

When my dd wanted to see the Fairies there was an over 50 minute wait and we had dinner reservations, I asked the CM if there was a place where she could just look at them from a far without meeting them, she said no. I said ok, as we were turning to leave she was on her phone then she called to me to wait and gave my dd a pass to go back stage ahead of the line and meet the Fairies. Again I do not know if this was because of the buttons or just Disney Magic.

Also on the bus our last night we were standing at the front of the bus and th bus driver announced over the PA system for everyone to give us a welcome because it was our first visit. This really made my kids feel special.

Wishing you some Disney Magic for your first trip!

I agree with the PP that you really shouldn't count on any recognition of a "celebration" because it may or may not happen.

I think there is more likelihood of some pixie dust if you are wearing a button indicating that it is your first visit, as CMs can readily see that and perhaps do a little something extra. I am guessing that the notation of a celebration, made on a room or dining reservation, is easily overlooked.

Have a great time, regardless! :goodvibes

It is definitely random...my last visit it was my kids and my husbands first time (my mom and I have been multiple times) and we were chosen as the Family of the Day at the ASMo. We were upgraded from standard to premium rooms with a view of the main pool, they took a family photo of us and gave us a copy in a nice frame, the kids got stickers and balloons and I got roses. It was a great start to our first family vacation.
A few people around the parks and in the restaurants welcomed my kids and husband as first timers as well.
I like to spread the joy a little myself by wishing people Happy Birthday or Happy anniversary when I see their buttons and Congratulate them if they are honeymooners or are first timers. The happiness and magic is infectious! :wizard:
