Another benefit of grapefruit (the fruit or juice) is that it can help you lose weight. DH drank it and lost a bunch of weight doing so.

Probably because it leaves a NASTY after taste!! LOL!! :)

2Much: Walking helps a lot, too. Grab yourself an Ipod or a Zune and walk at least a mile each night, then gradually build it up. One of my coworkers has lost 10 pounds from eliminating soda from her diet and walking 2 miles each night in the last 2 months.

That's what I told him. I'm going to try it though. My plan is to hold my nose while I drink it and then quickly follow it with water.

I'm TTC too. My dh and I have been trying since September. If I O'd it was around last Sunday so I'm just about 1/2 way through my TWW.

Okay. I am sold on the grapefruit juice if it helps with weight loss, too! Does it have to be a specific kind? I don't mind the ruby red as much; but not sure it that would count. Since I told DH the scale at home is 5 pounds off he may want to try it, too. Hee Hee!

Welcome to the group!!

Rebecca, I forgot to bring up about the baby shower. I think if you are close you ought to talk to her and tell her how you feel. I am sure she would understand. However, me personally I would go because I would want to celebrate after all the trouble she had. That said, it does not make you bad or selfish. I offered to get with a friend of mine one on one to do a lunch in honor of her baby shower. Sadly that never happened as I miscarried and the baby was born weeks later. Bad timing ;) So go with whatever you feel is best for you :)

I just called DH and he said it could be any brand, but it can't be red grapefruit juice (too much sugar).

Thanks DisneyGirl4188! I am going to pick some up when I go to the store later now that I know what kind to get! Guess, I won't be sprinkling a little bit of sugar on my gratefruit halves anymore!

PrincessSuzanne:  It sounds like your meds might be working. Don't give up all hope. Sometimes it takes not TTC for it to happen.

I know, it sounds bad that I am giving up just when the meds look like they are going to start working, but maybe that is just what I need. Maybe it will take giving up to get my baby, it worked when I thought I would never find a husband, so maybe it will work now :rotfl:

As with the Baby Aspirin, St. Joseph's make an enteric coated 81mg baby Aspirin. It looks like the ones my mom gave me as a child, but you just swallow them, no chewing. Funny thouth, I like the chewable ones, but my tummy doesn't . I nave found them at Target, I don't know if Walmart had them or not.

 to everyone, whether you are TTCing or BFPing.

Suzanne princess:

DisneyDreamer8 - I would talk to your friend and let her know what is happening. Maybe you two could go out to a nice lunch either sometime the week of the shower.

Tinkerchelle - :grouphug: Amy is right though, it could still happen for you.

Imarriedgrumpy - Happy thoughts and prayers for a sticky baby! That is a great attitude and hopefully one that I can have when the time is right for me.

2bemarried - Thanks for the offer. I will PM you later tonight when I get home from work. I would love to know as much as I can about metaformin.

PrincessSuzanne - Thanks for the advice on the metaformin and the Soy Isoflavones. I might try to pick some of that up. I will definately take it after my meals as I have heard that from several people.

Happy Friday everyone! I need to go to work!

I forgot, I also got alot of information from a website called SoulCysters.net, the ladies there all have a diagnosis or possible diagnosis of PCOS.

PrincessSuzanne: You know it really isn't bad that you decided to stop TTC while the meds seem to be working for you. Here's why. You don't need the stress and the pressure and the constant disappointment. Sometimes it takes knowing when enough is enough for you personally. Allow youself to start relaxing more and I wouldn't be surprised to see a post saying you have a BFP!

JohnsPrincess: Good Luck! Hope you get a BFP!

That would really be nice and ironic kind of comes to mind also. Right now I am only stressing because I can't get into a Value Resort at WDW for my birthday on June 8 and we can't afford anything higher right now. The CM said well if you have a tent we can get you in, not funny. I had to go buy a car last weekend since DH totaled ours 3 weeks ago.

Is there some secret to the grapefruit juice? Does it help TTC? Are you adding something to it?

It's supposed to help increase CM.

Then, if you take plain robitussin or mucinex, that helps thin the CM.

You know I've been drinking the wrong damn kind of grapefruit juice! I can't imagine what the kind with less sugar tastes like! bleh! I haven't seend non-red juice...guess i"ll have to look in the frozen section at the store. All target and walmart have is the red one in the carton. I do find the juice to be working, though. :)

Thanks for the info on the aspirin. I'll have to make another run to target!

I always find white grapefruit juice in the bottled juice aisle (near Gatorade and apple juice).

DH actually likes the taste of it now. It took him awhile to get used to it, but now it tastes good to him.

Okay...I have kind of a dumb question. For those of us doing IVF it doesn't really matter if we ovulate since we go around the system...but will the grapefruit juice or aspirin help the babies stick once they're placed on the lining?

Suzanne, I think no matter what sometimes you need to take time off from emotional thins like TTC. You never know what may happen in the future, but I know I had to take at least breaks now and hten from trying.

Kristy, honestly I wouldn't do *anything* like that with IVF w/o doctor knowledge and conscent. That's JMO. I wouldn't want to guess how drugs would react like that. The grapefruit juice though won't help you at all, since it is to help the sperm reach the egg better ;)

Elaine, very true. I wouldn't start taking anything without my doctors consent first. I just wasn't sure if anyone here knew if they would help. If not, I won't even bring it up with my doc.

Kristy, asprin helps with the lining of the uterus. For me it keeps my flows from being too heavy (nothing is medically wrong, I am just blessed with that ;)). I might ask, but I don't know if they give you any other meds to help with prepping hte lining.

I'll have to ask her. It's been a year since my last round so I've forgotten a lot of little stuff like that. I know she looks at the lining during every ultrasound but I don't remember if the Lupron is getting the lining ready.

I called yesterday to work out my next appointments. If AF shows up on time I'll be starting the shots around June 23rd.
