Hi everyone! i love this thread! baby dust to all TTC and big congrats to all you success stories.


I'm Michelle and DH is Alan. We've been married 5 years, but together for 13 years. I'm 33 and DH is 35 and we live just outside of dallas. We've been trying for about 18 months now. I knew we would have problems since i've been off BC for 5 years and have had no 'accidents'- i mean we didn't even use the 'pull out' method in all that time. I don't think I was ovualting. i'm in good health, decent weight etc.

So my gyn who had me chart, then put me on clomid for 4 months (50mg) and i was ovulating then. but still no luck, so did the die test, lots of bloodwork etc. then i finally saw an RE. best in dallas. I have irregular periods (18-38 day cycles, varies) and painful PMS etc. The RE has us try two IUIs, good sperm #s, good lining, and 7 follicles each time (which released 4 eggs out of 7 both months) but still no luck. I have an extremely narrow cervix, the nurse couldn't even get the tube in for the IUI for like 20 minutes.

Now we are opting to try a lap to check for endo. with my pain and irregularity, i probably have it and maybe that is the hold up. so i do the lap this friday. Then we will do another IUI in early November. I am currently CD 19. So we lost a month due to my work schedule (on the road during the prime time week)- and doing the lap. I am hoping the lap does the trick.

anyone care to share their LAP experiences? Will i be able to go back to work Monday? do they usually put you on drugs afterwards - i've heard metaformin and other stuff? I am hoping we get to do the IUI in early November as my insurance is changing in January and it currently covers it! it might not for much longer.

Man, pregnancy brain is tough. I've been trying to figure out who the heck Reintro is!!!!

I don't get to post much because work blocked the DIS ($#%@#@), but in case you forgot me, I'm Allison and I've been married to Kory for year and a half (together for three). We eloped to Savannah after 7 months of awful wedding planning - best decision ever! We live in a small GA town and have a Basset Hound and cat. Life is pretty good.

In April 2005 I went off BC just to clear my system but we didn't start trying until last December. I got pregnant in May only to have a very early miscarriage. Then in July I got pregnant again and here I am in my second trimester (wow, that's freaky)! As I mentioned before, I really wanted to get pg in July because it worked best with my teaching schedule and somehow that's how it happened! You can't deny the power of positive thought!

I love this thread because as someone else said, it's so full of hope. We've had so many success stories, you can't help but feel good after reading the posts.

anyone care to share their LAP experiences? Will i be able to go back to work Monday? do they usually put you on drugs afterwards - i've heard metaformin and other stuff?

I will try to remember, but my lap was 6 years ago, and I know I was pretty out of it. I think I was in bed for at least 2-3 days. Whether or not you will be able to go back to work depends on what kind of work you do. At that time, I was a waitress, so that was out of the question, and I hostessed for about a month, mostly standing/sitting all day at the register.

I don't remember what kind of drugs I was on for pain, but I know I went back for a shot of Lupron about a week later.

I am Laurel and I am 38 and my DH is 42. I guess I am the old lady on this thread

I am currently 14 weeks pregnant with #2. I have a beautiful 2 year old DD named Madeline. She is a total and is the light of our lives.

I have never had any trouble conceiving really...but I have had three miscarriages, one before my DD was born and two in the past year. So far, all looks good with this pregnancy, so I am very very hopeful.

Even though I am no longer TTC, I still lurk on this thread because these ladies are great.

For the re-introduction...

I'm Nancy. DH and I are both 29 and have been married about 10 months. I teach the 3rd grade and my job!

DH are not officially TTC yet, we are starting this next cycle (now just waiting for AF to show up from this cycle so we can get the show on the road! ). I went off BCP in June so hopefully everything's on the up and up again.

I'm not charting or anything, I figured we'd give it a few months of the old fashioned way ( ) before getting into all that.

Crossing my fingers for a easy and quick conception!!

This thread is fabulous - although I don't post much I read it each time I log onto Disboards. I cheer for everyone who finally lands that long-anticipated BFP!!!

ETA: Okay, I just have to share one of my most common "mommy fantasies" and see if anyone does the same thing. I picture often how it will be and feel to be a mom. One thing I imagine quite a bit is me, DH and our kids at Disney World. I imagine the look on their faces when they first see the castle , I imagine trying to talk them into riding Big Thunder Mountain, giving them junk food treats that they don't get at home, them falling asleep on my shoulder as we amble down Main Street after the fireworks...I can't wait to take my kids to Disney! Does anyone else fantasize about that too?

Nancy....I always tell DH that my life will be complete when I can live this!! I can't wait until I can bring my child to WDW.

So, just a quick update....DH and I have been bd'ing every-other day. Wow! This is turning into work!! I had a small temp spike today (usually every morning it is 97.3 and today was 97.5), so I don't know if I am o, but will do an OPK this afternoon when I get home from work to see. The past two days them have been negative. Oh...and I question for those that have temp'ed and then gotten pg - did you notice any change in temp when you might have had implantation? Just curious.....I love to sit and analyze my chart (and other people's!)on FF!!

Kelly I tried doing it every day from day 1-20 i figured it would have to work but it didn't and it was tiring. When is it time to just give it up and say enough is enough. Last month I had 5 good size follices and good sperm numbers but no pregnancy. I having a hard time dealing with the bfn and all the people who have children who aren't trying.

Hi Nancy! That is definitely something we fantasize about, too! We just recently returned from our WDW trip & that is where hubby told me we should go off BCP! We love watching all the kids taking everything in at WDW & can't wait to bring our own someday.

SDF Girl - that moment IS amazing. We took our son in May, at 23 months. DH and I had been to WDW 7 times together before we had DS, and always said how cool it would be to bring our kids for the first time. And when it finally happened, and I got to share in that pure JOY with my son, it was spectacular. We are going back in December, 2008. DS will be 4.5 and this new baby will be 18 months. I am already looking forward to it.

Becky - I saw you started another thread about the best products for babies. I was going to post but thought it might get lost. Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bourdeaux's Butt Paste. I used it even when DS didn't have a diaper rash. It is so perfect. It's a little on the $$$ side, but completely worth it. A little goes a long way, and diaper rash clears up in a minute.

Nancy, I always think about taking my kids to WDW. DH and I are already planning for 12/08. Aside from the magic of it all, there's the ability to act like a big kid. When you're just 2 adults, it's sort of creeping to chase after the characters. Kids allow you to act strange and it just looks cute.

Lisa, I'm sorry about AF. Honestly, it's time for the doctor to do something different. How many cycles can you go on doing the same thing over and over?? Is there another doctor that can give you a 2nd opinion - like an OB/GYN? That's what I did (so I didn't have to see another RE and feel obligated to have treatment with them). I called my OB/GYN and asked him if he thought me and my RE were overlooking anything. He made a few suggestions, but said he was in agreement with what we were doing. Have you tried taking a baby aspirin a day (81mg)? That can help the lining and increase blood flow to the uterus.

Michelle, good luck with the lap! Metformin isn't a pain killer, it's a drug used to treat PCOS and/or Insulin-Resistance. I take it to prevent OHSS because I have elevated LH and Metformin can regulate that hormone and create more/better eggs and prevent hyperstimulation. I had my lap emergency after my ectopic, so I was loaded on medication and I was out for a few weeks. I got Vicodin after. It was my best friend.

hang in there Lisa, i know it's tough. i too have great follies (7), great sperm count, good lining and still nada. you aren't alone. i am glad you are giving it another shot. i know i won't quit. while it is hard, frustrating and depressing, it is worth it for me to have what i have always wanted and then i can finally stop 'mothering' my hubby to death! lol i just had a good friend tell me she is pregnant yesterday. only 4-5 weeks along and she was only trying for like 5 months. she already has a 3 year old too. i would give anything even to have just one. it's hard, but i am happy for her. i can't let my pain get in the way of her joy. keep your chin up and have hope!

While it does seem like forever Carla this is only my second cycle with glonal f. We took some time off after having a cyst on the ovary. Last night Kevin and I did talk about IVF and saving up for a least one cycle. It will probably cost about 1500 plus meds--the meds aren't too expensive though. I hate the term unexplained infertilty we did the lap and the sperm count and everything else and everything looks good

Lisa - sorry about the old witch showing up. It could have been worse, it could have been your MIL!

"Unexplained infertility" - I used to get so angry when the RE used that term. Maybe they are just being too lazy to figure it out. With me, after years of treatment and testing, it turned out to be PCOS - something that was resolved very quickly, and if they had done the proper tests, it would have saved a lot of heartache and money. I remember driving home from work almost every night sobbing because I couldn't get PG, I would never have children, and would never make DH a father. I thought I should leave him so he could feel the joy of having children with someone else.

At one point in my journey, we did clomid with u/s monitoring and HcG at ovulation. Because of the timing, we had to BD at 6AM the morning after the HcG injection. Even when your DH is frisky most of the time, sometimes he's not at 6AM - know what I mean. I remember thinking that this is supposed to be natural and fun, this definitely is not.

I finally figured out how to put a picture in my siggie. These are my girls, Hannah on the right and Emily on the left. They are 7 and 6.

I was given Oxycodone and Ibuprofen after my lap in September. They both worked great. I will tell you though that it's pretty common for Oxycodone to cause constipation. Colace will be your best friend to help alleviate that.

Also, make sure that you have a heating pad or something that you can use for the stiffness and pain. The doctors will put a gas into the front of your stomach during the surgery. That gas then moves up to the shoulders, collarbone and neck the evening of surgery and especially the next day. The heating pad will help with that discomfort until it dissipates(sp?) all on it's on.

I had my surgery on a Friday. The doctors told me that I could go back to work on Monday, but I didn't return until Wednesday. I sit at a desk all day and sitting just wasn't comfortable by Monday and still a little painful on Tuesday.

We're going in December 2008 too! My little one will be 21 months, and my SIL's will be 24 months (or just shy of that- depending on his arrival date!!)

I dream of this all the time- and especially when we went in May with our nieces (3 and 5), we couldn't wait to bring our own little one. And since SIL and I are pregnant at the same time, and we're both DIsney nuts, it seemed a perfect idea (plus we've always wanted to go when it's all decorated for Christmas!). Aaaahh, the magic. Gotta hook them while they're young!

ANd EVERYONE is reccommending the Butt Paste! I will definitely get some!

thanks for sharing, that is such helpful info! my boss is great, and knows about all of my struggle/journey so far, so she will be fine if i miss more days i guess. i am not looking forward to that gas pain in the shoulders etc. I've heard about it. ugh! oh well- hopefully it 'cleans' me out and makes our chances better in November. thanks again
