Mrs. Nick--try first morning tinkle--supposedly for an early BFP--if you were to get one, it is more likely with that than later in the day.

Kristy, I'm sorry about your mom. :grouphug: Don't worry yourself about relaxing....I know, the more you try to relax, the more frustrated you get that you can't relax. People conceive under all sorts of trying conditions. Relaxing is ideal, but it's definitely not necessary. What's going to happen to your mom now? Maybe if she's getting help, it'll take the pressure off of you. I'm an only child, too, so I know how alone you can feel when a parent needs help. That's why we have DHs. :goodvibes

MrsNick, don't give up yet. Those test only read 25. When I was pregnant, my level was only 15 at 14DPO and wouldn't have registered on an HPT.

I'm heading off to the gyno now. Fun. We've spoken on the phone a few times a month during all this - he's been my unofficial 2nd opinion. I haven't seen him since my m/c in March when I got him out of bed at 2am to drive to a hospital where he doesn't even have privileges. I love this guy. It makes me sad to think he might retire before he delivers my babies. :sad2: OK....enough thinking about stupid crap today. DH has to drive me because he moved offices and I have no idea where he is and, if I get lost or if there is no parking, I'd just come home. Not the best idea.

Hi everybody!

MrsNick - Welcome to the group.

Kristy :grouphug:

Carla - Try Concord Hospital. It's not too horrifically far from Deerfield, and they have a good maternity and OB/GYN groups. As far as diagnosing me with PCOS, it was based on the 3hr GTT and the irregular periods, hirsutism, and weight. He did do a prolactin level and a TSH, which were normal. He didn't do the FSH and LH levels, which is what I plan on asking for just as soon as dear old AF shows up.

Nicole - I'm definitely asking. If he doesn't, I'll just get the doc I work for to order them, and then find a new doc :) Either way, I get the results....

LisaB - good for you for telling teveryone how it's going to be. It's no one but your and your DH's decision anyways

Jen

Hi Carla :wave2: I hope your Dr. doesn't retire before you deliver...I know I get so attached to specific Drs. and when I can't use them anymore, I'd rather not even go to the Dr. because it's such a PIA to find another one I like and trust. Especially for something as personal as OBGYN.

Thanks y'all for letting me vent. My mom's boss called and gave me an update. She's doing fine and she's seeing her shrink tomorrow. I may or may not call her tonight depending on how strong I'm feeling :)

Carla I hope your appointment is going well. I know I hate it when doctors leave me too. My RE is leaving the practice the end of this morning. Thankfully there are other really nice RE's in that office so I'm okay staying with them.

MrsNick...I agree on testing tomorrow morning. Silly question but were you ttc or think this may be an "oops" the bc didn't work?

Jen thanks for the hug :)

I have a haircut at 5:30...the shampoo and scalp massage should help me relax :)

Oh yah...I can tell my ovaries are expanding and the follicles are growing. I keep having these weird cramps and just feel bloated..especially where the left ovary is.

I don't really know why she went to Lawrence Hospital I thought it was a hospital in NH. Kristy--I am so glad that things are better with your Mom. Enjoy the haircut and shampoo. I had posted that my ob is just doing gyn now and am i upset. I think I am going to call her for a consiltation to see what will be done if I am pregnant

Kristy,

Just wanted to say that my mom had mental illnesses, too, so if you need more venting time feel free to PM me. I'm not an only child, but I'm the oldest, and it was my "responsibility" to keep the family up and running and take care of mom when she broke down. My mom had some suicide attempts, usually timed with my birthday, and she'd end up in inpatient care following those. I won't bring everyone down with more details than that, but just wanted to say that I've been there, and if you need to vent I'm happy to listen! I like to think that I've been through all that for a reason.

Hi, Kristy,

Enjoy the scalp massage (those are the best, aren't they?). To answer, not an 'oops.' DH and I are TTC #1 (on 4th cy).

I started off charting, and then decided not to (I was getting a little bit obsessed, and so I decided that I needed to just relax and go with the flow). If after 9 cycles or so we haven't had any luck, I'll schedule another appt. with obgyn to see if something's up.

Signing off for a few hours - I'll check back with y'all later :goodvibes

Jen, you definitely want the LH and FHS tested on CD3. You also want your P4 (progestrone) tested at 7DPO or about 10 days after you take your last Clomid. I'll check out Concord Hospital. If I can't be with MY doc, I want to be in a nice place, at least. :sunny:

MrsNick, doctors are so hit or miss.....but, I think I'm finally at an age where one appointment, tick me off, you're all done. I don't stick around. Life is too short to have bad doctors!

Kristy, I hope you get more good news tomorrow. You're mother is getting help by a professional, so it's out of your hands right now.

Lovely visit to Unlce Philip puts me in an awkward situation. He says I should ask for Toradol after transfer to get rid of the cramping. It's safer than Advil and is the #1 drug to quiet the uterus. So, I plan to bring that up as we get close to transfer....just say I was doing some research online and heard that Toradol was good and they gave it to me after retrieval and it worked, so maybe we could go with that this time around instead of vicodin. How's that sound?

Then he told me I have Galacta-something. My prolactin is normal, but over-active in the breast area and I am producing breast milk. My doctor is the person who did all of this original research and REALLY believes that could be the root of my implantation failures. He wants me on Doxtinex, but he won't give it to me - he wants me to talk to my RE and get it from her. I'm so tired and over-whelmed, I have no idea what to do? I figured I'd say I went to him for an infection and he checked me out and saw the galactawhatever and wants to treat me for it independent of the infertility, but he'd prefer she give it to me since she sees me more. Does that sound good? I'm so tired.....took Advil PM.

Carla--wow..everytime I read your paragraph--I keep thinking about Battlestar Galactica. Yes-I am a sad sad individual. Hopefully they are right and that is your golden ticket.

Okay--I got news.
10DPO +
11DPO +
And today 12DPO--3 tests (I'm a bit obsessive) BFP on each and every one. WAHOO!!!!

So fingers crossed for a sticky!!!

Wow Lisa Congrats on the BFP When is the beta test?????

Carla you said ovulation is usually 36 hrs after iui the first or the second???

Lisa Loves Pooh -- yeah to you!!

This board is lucky.

Keep the lucky baby pixie dust flowing so some rubs off on me!

So happy for you.

I am seeing my RE today for the results of my repeat FSH blood work - I am of course not expecting any change and am confident the POF result will remain the same. I am also getting the results of the chromosome tests he did to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong with me causing the POF - I am a little nervous about the appointment (which is at 4pm) even though the chances are super slim there is some illness with me causing the POF - more likely than not the doctor thinks the POF is just some unexplained occurance that "sometimes happens"

Anyway - still nervous. Will post the results tonight though.

Our egg donor search continues -- saw a girl yesterday that looked promising (she lives in Wisconsin though and we live in MA) - oh well - that is what airplanes are for.

Kristy -- wanted to add that I was thinking of you and am sorry you are going through the stuff with your mom - keep your chin up. I hope all will be okay.

Have a great day ladies.

~Nicole

I'm a chicken--the doc I saw here is more conservative than the one at home...so I'm not going.

I will request a beta when we return home--August 1st. Not sure if they will do one for me or not.

 Thank you so much for sharing that and offering to let me vent. I really do appreciate it. I talked to my mom yesterday afternoon and she shared with me about half of what I know. She did sound OK so I'm going to trust that her doctor can help her through this.

MrsNick...were you able to test this morning? I hope you have good results if not we'll all be here to support you and keep you going till the next cycle :goodvibes

Carla...I'm really surprised that your RE hasn't already tested for the things that uncle Phil did. I think both of your statements are fine. I know you don't like being in an awkward position at least he was able to give you a possible reason for the failed implantations.

LisalovesPooh :cheer2: :cheer2: Congrats on the BFP!! Sending you lots of sticky dust :wizard: Is there another facility where you are that you could have a beta done?

Nicole we're sending you all the baby dust we can find ;) I hope your appointment goes well today and that the doctor has good news for you.

Minor vent here: Why do doctors offices over book their patients? My appointment this morning was for 8:30am. After waiting almost an hour I finally got called back at 9:20 for my u/s. That took all of 10 minutes and then I had to wait another 10 minutes for my blood draw. Granted the waiting room was packed but you would think they would space out the appointments more. Thankfully I didn't want to come to work THAT bad so I dealt with it but other people were really getting angry.
So...the u/s went well. My follicles are still growing...just very slow. I had 5 less than 10 on the right and 7 less than 10 on the left. The doctors isn't really concerned since I'm on a lose dose of Follistim. Unless I hear from them today I have to stay on the 225 and go back Monday morning for another visit. From the looks of things my retrieval may be next Friday or the following Monday. Doesn't really matter to me as long as the follies are growing at the same rate and they're all healthy :) :)

By the way: TGIF!!!!

Lisa, congrats! When does the doctor want to see you? I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan. :wizard:

LisaB, you should ovulate around 36 hours after the HCG injection. They generally like to time the IUIs 24 hours after HCG and 48 hours after HCG since it takes the sperm a few hours to get to the egg and the egg only lives for 24 hours or so. Some people ovulate earlier (like me) and some ovulate a few hours later, but 36 hours is a general time for ovulation after the shot.

Nicole, I hope you get good news today. :grouphug:

Kristy, that would drive me crazy to wait so long. I always let people go ahead of me in the AM because I am in no hurry to get to work. In fact, I usually just go home after my appointments anyway, so I just hang out and let people go ahead of me because I'm not going to be late for anywhere.

My RE did test my prolactin and it's normal. It's not really an accepted view that someone can have fertility problems due to over-active prolactin if the prolactin level is normal. The theory is similar to why breast-feeding women have a harder time conceiving - even though their prolactin is normal, if they are producing breast milk, something in them hinders ovulation and, possibly, implantation. It's not an accepted practice to give every woman a squeeze to check for breast-milk as part of an infertility work-up. :teeth: Uncle Philip thinks it should be, but he doesn't specialize in that stuff, so he defers to the professionals. Actually, a lot of things can cause it - Xanax and other anti-anxiety drugs, some anti-depressants, some ulcer/heartburn drugs. I don't think it's genetic since my mother doesn't have it. I asked him if I'd drop a few cup sizes if I took the drugs and he said probably not. Oh, well....I tried! :lmao:

My E2 came back at 1521 today so I have to decrease the Follistim to 150 IU's tonight and tomorrow. I'm scheduled to go in to see them Sunday morning now instead of Monday. I'm a little nervous now. Carla is 1521 bad?

IVF #1
225 iu of Follistim for 3 days=E2 300
150 iu of Follistim for 2 days=15 follies on R; 10 on L;E2 1300
50 iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 1671 (This is where she started to get concerned about my E2 and threatened to cancel my cycle.)
30 iu of Follistim for 1 day=E2 2200
25 iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 900 (She checked to make sure I didn't already ovulate - I didn't, but we only got 3 mature eggs.)

IVF#2
150 iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 290
75iu of Follistim for 2 das=E2 760
75iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 880
75iu of Follistim for 2 day=E2 1150
75iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 1400
75iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 1950
We got 9 mature eggs with this round. I got mild OHSS and was pretty miserable.

IVF#3 - this is the cycle I stopped giving a darn about my E2 levels
200iu of Follistim for 1 day
150iu of Follistim for 1 day
100iu of Follistim for 1 day
100iu of Follistim for 2 days
100iu of Follistim for 1 day
100iu of Follistim for 2 days
75iu of Follistim for 2 days=E2 is 2050. We got 6 mature eggs and, again, I got OHSS and was miserable.

My RE has a policy of not allowing a transfer if the E2 is over 3,000. The biggest risk with OHSS comes if a pregnancy results - that will cause you to get sicker and could risk the pregnancy. She would require the embryos be frozen and transferred after the OHSS cleared. Some REs don't have that policy and will go forward regardless of the E2 level. You should ask yours what their policy is and if they have a limit.

It really depends on how it relates to the follicle size....if they're less than 10, it's probably another 5 days of stimming, so it's not high by itself, but when you look at what it might be in another 5 days, it's good they're pulling back now.

Are you taking time off after your retrieval or transfer?

Okay...I think that makes sense. I'm on day 7 of stims right now and it's at 1521. I'm not sure what the number was on Wednesday but she said it was normal.

I'm taking the day of retrieval off and a week off for the transfer.

What can I do to help keep the E2 level? I know I'm supposed to be drinking water and I'm trying too...I really am. Should I be chugging Gatorade too?
