Any other Dark Tower series fans?

I love this series of books and have read all 7 at least 3 times. I just read last night that they are going to make the series into movies!

There will be 3 big screen movies and 3/4 mini movies on NBC. At least, that is what the plan is now. Hopefully it changes because I don't think these movies will be suitable for TV and if they are, they have changed things way too much.

I was also looking at some of the thoughts on casting. The big one of course, is the gunslinger himself. The top choice seems to be Viggo Mortensen. I would be ok with that because he is who I kind of pictured in my mind when trying to picture Roland.

#1 choice for Eddie is Josh Holloway LOL. I can understand why people want to see him again but he doesn't really match the description of him at all.

For Suzanne/Odetta there have been a few names passed around. Sadly, I didn't know who any of them were. The only name I did recognize and hope they DON'T go with is Jada Pinkett Smith For some reason I can't stand her and it would be really hard to have to watch her try to act and still enjoy the movie.

There have been no names really tossed around for Jake. I can't think of anyone who would fit the bill either.

The only other character that will need some thought is who will play Stephen King.... My vote is for Bill Cosby

Jada Pinkett Smith is the only person I know of those you named so can't comment on how well they would "fit" the characters. I definitely can't see her as Suzanne/Odetta. Angelina Jolie would be good but I can't stand her! LOL

She would be a total miscast. Plus, Suzanne is black so I'm thinking maybe not

Ron Howard is slated to direct so this could either be awesome or a complete disaster.

True...the character in the book is black but you know they always change things up in the movie version. LOL

My FAVORITE books! I think Viggo would be my top choice as well. I always thought the Gunslinger was a young Clint Eastwood type. I do not like JPS. I think Angela Bassett could play Suzanna well.

The creators of LOST were supposed to work on this project. I wonder who is the creative team. The screenwriter is going to have a huge task getting those detailed books into a script.
