Any other Dan Brown (The DaVinci Code) fans?

I took along 'The DaVinci Code' to read on our WDW trip last month and loved it - what an awesome novel! I'm always on the lookout for new authors, so I immediately went out and bought 'Angels and Demons' to see if it was as good. I just finished it yesterday - I could not put it down, it was every bit as fascinating, thrilling, and engrossing as The Da Vinci Code. I now have a new favorite author! :D

I went out to his website and was disappointed to find out that he has only written 2 other books and his next one is not due out until next year. :( I realize it's quality vs. quantity, but now I am so spoiled I don't want to ready anything else. I also like Elizabeth George but her novels are slow in coming as well. Anyone else enjoy his books? I know the other 2 novels do not feature Robert Langdon, but are they just as good? Any recommendations of other authors that are similar?

I loved it. The chapters are fairly short so I'd say, "I'll read one more." Anyway...I couldn't stop reading it.

I'm amazed at the number of people who have written books trying to refute The Davinci Code. (Just go to any bookstore website and look.) I work with someone who thinks I'm going to hell because I read it. I mean, come on, it's a s...t...o...r...y! :crazy2:

I loved "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco, but he's kind of the "advanced class" of Dan Brown; he is a universtity porfessor in Italy, I believe he writes in Italian, and some of his other novels, in my opinion, didn't translate well. The Name of the Rose was made into a movie a whil ago with Sean Connery and Christian Slater, very early in his career. The movie didn't do the book justice, though. Anothe of his, Focault's Pendulum, is very similar to the DaVinci Code, even into the details, but was written years ago. I highly recommend "Focault's Pendulum."

Loved it - going to get Angels and Demons out of middle school library. We have a brand new school with a ton of new books and I can take as many as I want over the summer. Only myself and one other aide takes books out all summer long. It is so cool to come to your own private library. My DS 13 is reading it now, he likes it too.

I'm like you; I loved The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons and can't wait for the next one. Have you heard they are making The DaVinci Code into a movie?

Deception Point and Digital Fortress are not as good, but I enjoyed them, too. I don't think you will be disappointed if you decide to read them. I'd also recommend The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl and anything by Dennis LeHane.

I've recently finished The Crimson Petal and the White (not suspenseful, but really good), and a book called These is my Words (not a suspense, but a good historical love story).

I need to get back to the bookstore and find another good book. I'll also need to get started on putting together a summer book list. :)
