Any other crazy people picking up Harry Potter at midnight?

Yes, I'll be there. It feels like Christmas eve! It's so much fun going to the store and hanging out with everyone. I told my kids if they want to go,they have to wear a HP t shirt. My husband and I went for the last book, which was also our anniversary. My 9 yo wants to go but I'm afraid she's going to have a major meltdown before 12. I ordered a book months ago but I'm paranoid that there won't be one for me.

No! It would be fun! Seriously, I think there'll be a lot of adults there and having done the last one, it's a great story to look back on - very memorable.

I'm taking my kids and their friends to a local book store/teachers store at 11--they're having lots of activities and will give out the books at midnight (we had to pre-pay for them). I'm looking forward to it, I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Then they're coming back here and say they'll be staying up all night to read them.

The poor UPS man tomorrow!! The daughters are staking claim to the front porch for the UPS man...book is coming from Amazon.(no Borders near by ) There may be a knock-down drag out right in our front yard...and that's just DH!!

Our family is soooooooooooooooo excited!!

DH just got back and he is not happy... He didn't know anything about the "ticket system" and the place was packed!!!! According to him, they had several tables set up with kids' activities and there were lots of kids there! He is going to pick it up tomorrow, hopefully!

Just got back with my DD, there were about 75 people in line at the Meijer. They had 300 books. We got to the store about 10 min before they went on sale. We were out of the store by 12:02am.

I got mine! Took only 15 min. Of course we had been at the store since 9:55. Lots and lots of people and line waiting. Great ticket system though - different colors based on if you had pre reserved and when or if you just showed up and took your chances. Have to go read!

Just got back and wow! it was crazy!

We got ours! Out by 12:30. B&N did a pretty good job organizing things. We had our pictures taken with Harry Potter and Hagrid and it was even free! The polaroid came out pretty well. The kids saw plenty of their friends and there were special games for the kids plus glasses for everybody. So many people were dressed up! My kids were most excited that the news was there.

I went with my sister.. really only because we were at the mall anyway since we'd just gotten out of a movie. Barnes and Noble was full of cute kids dressed up like Harry and it was very festive and fun. We wanted to, for the heck of it, check out the scene at Borders - it was nuts there! We got in right as they were counting down at midnight, and it was a mob scene of cranky people, and the line was rumored to be almost 2 hours long. We ended up leaving, but since Mary really is a Harry Potter fan (I've never even read them) we decided to check at Stop and Shop. They had tons of copies there and there were very few people in the store, we didn't even have to wait in line to check out. So we got our Harry Potter at midnight

I got mine!!! I was at Hastings from 10:30 til 12:10. Was wild because they had us in 2 lines then 3 then finally moved all of us that had them on reserve to another line which made alot of people mad. We had pizza and trivia while we waited which was nice. When we got our books they gave us with reserved copies a chocolate bar and a few of the lucky ones(me included) got the cool baseball cap. I'm already reading chapter one LOL

Just got back, BNN was packed. DS son and I were the first ones to purchase the books. A newspaper crew was there and took two pictures of DS with his copy of the book.

Of course the papers this crew works with aren't sold in my area, so I'll have to run around Brooklyn tomorrow to see if I can find them. If I do I'll post the picture.

The book is so good! I don't think I'll get any sleep tonight.

My kids had a great time! It wasn't too packed because they set a limit for their party and you had to pay for the books ahead of time. They divided the kids into teams, different rooms of the house (not sure, haven't read them myself) and gave prizes for the top two teams. My son and his friend won beach balls and my daughter won a little box of sorcerer's stones--I think that's what they were, they were very pretty. They had goodies and lots of kids and all the store employees dressed up. They also had a local radio station out. Someone in line said the Borders near her house was expecting 500-800 and she was glad they'd driven the half hour to this store.
