Figured I'd see if anyone else is in the same boat with me.
I decided at the beginning of August that the 2013 Marathon would be a great comeback race, but I held off on registering. I'd been suffering severe foot pain for the past several months, and the few runs I had attempted this summer were cut short due to pain.
Saw a podiatrist last week, diagnosed with PF. He did give me the green light to train and compete knowing the time frame and my current (not so awesome) fitness level, but encouraged me to put in as many miles as possible on an elliptical or with an aqua-jogging belt in the pool. I've got night splints and my orthotics will be here in the next 10 days or so!
I know nothing is a substitute for running, so I'm currently doing 2-a-days with low-impact alternatives (rowing, elliptical, and swimming) with the plan to get back out on the roads and track in early November.
Is anyone else in the sidelined-but-not-giving-up camp? I'd love some moral support.
