Any opinions on which Sept dates are better?

Dh has two options for vacation dates for our trip in Sept. We are a family of four looking to do a 10 day trip to POP:cheer2: with plus dining. The dates could be between either of these dates:

Sept 8-20
or
Sept 17-29

Are there any advantages to choosing one over the other?

Just from my own experience the crowds have been just a little less. I'll be there 4-12:goodvibes.

Most kids head back to school just prior to or after Labour Day (first weekend in Sept.), so things seem to thin out for a brief while resulting in (hopefully) less wait times for the rides.
Also, the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party dates start in mid-Sept. this year, so as later Sept. and October arrives, I think the parks will start to get busier for the Halloween season.
We'll be there Sept. 10 thru 19

We were there last year for the first time, so we don't have much to compare it to.....but we were there Sept 6-12th and almost everything was a walk on all week. CMs were telling us that this was the slowest week they'd seen since after 9/11...........one even said the slowest week in 20 years! If we could go back that week after Labor Day again we would but our kids start school now.

Definitely the earlier week is my vote!

I don't think there will be that much of a difference in the crowds. We went in 2005 the last week in September and the crowd level wasn't too high. It might be as warm and humid if you go towards the end of the month also. Something to keep in mind :confused3

I agree. People who have kids they don't want to miss shool will be back by then and people with kids who don't worry about missing school still won't want to miss the first week. People without kids might as well wait until it is a bit cooler.

This logic seems to be born out by the availability of Free Dining. I tried booking some of the harder to get places like CSR and a Standard View room at WL. Both are available in the first period but not the second.
