Any opinions on Shula's?

My parents are going with us to WDW this December, and they will have an evening alone together while DH and I go to an event that they want to skip.

My dad is a huge steak lover, and I thought it might be nice to send them to a special dinner together. I've heard mixed reviews on Yachtsman, but the reviews of Shula's seem to be more uniformly positive. Plus, my mom doesn't like steak, so Yachtsman doesn't seem to have as many other options as Shula's does. So other than the fact that it's really pricey, any opinions on Shula's?

I adore Shula's. I think it has the best steak on Disney property. It appears that they have 4-5 non-steak options which I assume are just as good. A couple things that you should know. First of all, Shulas is DARK ... both in furnishings and in lighting. IIRC our waiter left us with a flashlight so we could read our menu football. Secondly, the portions are quite big. They really only need one side and not two so they should select one to share. Lastly, the used to bring a cart around to show you what the raw food looked like so you can make your selection. It included a hapless live lobster which was none too happy to be out of the water.

Shula's is delicious, it is the best steak on Disney property.

I agree with everything robinb said, esp that it is dark, ridiculously so.

It was good, but it didn't live up to expectations for us. I will agree its the best steak on property - but we had the bad luck to be there during a Gartner Conference, so it was a lot of big parties of business people on expense accounts. And the steak, while good, was not as good as other steaks I've had for the same amount of money at similar chains.

Between Shula's and Yachtsman, I give the slight edge to Shula's, but both are quite good. Your parents will enjoy either one.

Have a question about Shula's. I read a recent review that mentioned it's so dark you'll need the flashlight they give you, and when you light up the menu, there are no prices. That just seems odd to me. Anyone have additional info on this? We have reservations, but I'm second guessing them. I'm thinking we might be happier at Yachtsman.

Shula's is the best steak on property. Dark decor. Mostly adult diners. Sides are huge, plenty large enough to share. Great desserts.
Pricey, but good. And they accept NO discounts that we have found, versus the Yachtsman which accepts the TIW discount.

It is dark, but I don't recall actually needing a flashlight to read the menu and I believe that the menu had prices on it.
