Hello,
We've had 2 stays on the YC concierge floor, but haven't tried BC. The first, about 3 yrs. ago, was wonderful. They served delicious gourmet foods for appetizers and desserts. We tried again last summer and were very disappointed. The selections were mediocre at best, nothing fancy, boring cookies, stale brownies, raw veggies, chips and dips. As you may have guessed the food is the most important feature for us on concierge floor. So... the big question is, for those who have tried BC concierge recently, is the fare any better? TIA

BC is the same offerings. Stayed at YC last August and the food was not like the past. This Easter we stayed at BC almost nothing out from 12-4. The 5:30 to 8 was good they offered soup and a hot dish. 8 to 10:30 very little deserts and cold coffee. Well ,we will be back at YC in August and see what their changes are! The staff at both BC and YC are great.

Arazamataz,
What makes you think the YC concierge will be any different for your upcoming trip? Have you heard of any changes for the better that I'm not aware of? Thanks for replying.

We have stayed at BC 2003 , BC 2004 , YC 2004 & BC 2005. Each time something was added or taken away. Like in 2003/2004 the 8pm desserts were great. The 6pm was so-so just mac n cheese for hot dish. In YC 2004 the desserts where cut back but good things at 12. The BC 2005 the 12 had nothing but bagged popcorn , 8pm cream puffs and cookies but a good soup and hot dishes at 6pm. Alot of the guest are repeaters and there were alot of questions being asked. Like what happened to ....I think they take it in and then make changes . I don 't think they want unhappy concierge guest because most are repeaters. Just look a the concierge lizard link. So I'am always optimistic and ready to give it one more try. We are also trying the Portofino Bay Hotel Club Room (conciege) for three days. Hope I have helped a little!

arazamataz, you will love PFB! Their concierge staff was so helpful, they meet you at the front desk and the service doesn't stop. We stayed there last Aug. during the hurricane and are going again this year in Aug. as well.

I am looking forward to our first stay at BC, but we don't utilize the PM offerings much thank goodness. Their planning office cannot be beat IMHO.

We found the offerings in both YC and BC to be comparable. I think they've scaled back because too many people were treating the lounge as if it were a meal plan, which isn't what it's all about.

We've always found the evening offerings to be just about right at all teh WDW CL's--enough for a small plate with some cheese and crakers, a few veggies, and maybe a couple pieces of hot appetizer. That and a glass of wine is perfect when you're showering and dressing before dinner. I suppose if I were thinking it WAS dinner I'd be disappointed.

We love the BWI Concierge staff and the deluxe room there is great at Christmas since we have a 5ft. tree in the room. We also have a son with special needs and the extra room is good for his chair. Last Christmas was our 4th there and I take my son for his birthday there as well. So, I have gotten to know the place pretty well. I think we will just miss you at PFB, so have a great stay you will love it!

We are like Ducklite and just barely use the lounge for snacks. I find even with a couple of appetizers I am not hungry for dinner. I do like grabbing a glass of wine on the way to shower though, and it's nice to have a snack close by for DS.

Hi,
Original poster here, just wanted to clarify we don't expect the snacks to replace dinner. There was a noticeable difference in the quality of the food at YC concierge since our 1st stay a few years ago. For instance, the desserts were really special. We had a lovely coconut cake one night, as well as little french pastries, eclairs and napoleons come to mind. Our most recent stay we had nothing but cookies, rice krispie bars (yucky poo) and other ordinary fare. I remember the brownies being particularly stale. I realize this stuff is what kids like, but offer something more gourmet for the adults as well. So, I was hoping maybe BC was doing a better job with their concierge lounge. We swore we'd never pay for YC concierge again. Sounds like they're similar enough that we won't take our chances. By the way, I sent letters to everyone I could think of who might care. I received a public relations phone call, "Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay and we'll pass your comments along."
Anyways, didn't mean to ramble. I appreciate all your feedback.

Confused what is PFB?

Gator Kate
I am in the same boat as you. I had 2 incredible YC CL experiences but was concerned about some of the posts I have been reading. I was going to try the BC CL this October but was concerned with the smaller lounge size. I was under the impression that the YC and BC CL served the same food as each other on each night. One night it comes from the Cape May Cafe and one night from the Yachtsman Steak House.I could be wrong, it could have changed. I ended up rebooking the YC CL. I hope I am not sorry.

Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal. I agree we are not looking for diner just the high standards that concierge had in the past. After a long day it is nice to have a good dessert and coffee at the lounge and sit back and talk to other guests. This how it was in the past. One more try at YC !!! I feel it going to be great!!!
