My sister has cyst on her her throid all over and her doctor wants to remove the thyroid she wants to try other things first and found this type of procedure. I tried reading it but there are so many medical terms its to hard to follow. any doctors or people with this procedure.

I know nothing about the use of ethanol with regard to the thyroid and this may be totally irrelevant, but I had a Morton's neuroma in my foot and as an alternative to having foot surgery, the podiatrist injected (10 separate times) the nerve with a 10% ethanol/alcohol solution to kill the nerve. It didn't work. I would guess that the therapy your sister found is to disable the thyroid, something one might want to do in Graves Disease where the thyroid is over producing hormone. With cysts however, the doctor may have other concerns and so that may be why he is recommending a thyroidectomy. There are lots of ways to disable a thyroid but he may just want it "out of there".
