Quick question -- has anyone worked in a trip to Cape Canaveral before or after a cruise (or any other time)? I think Andrew and Jake would love to visit -- they even like to watch the NASA channel -- so I'm trying to decide how to work in a trip, how long I should allot, where we should stay etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Marci!

My understanding is that it is a FULL day at Cape Canaveral. Just saw a report where they are trying to find a way to inspire the youth of today. They are saying that the space program needs the enthusiasm of our kids. Have you ever thought of taking the boys to that space camp in Alabama, I think it is?

By the way Valerie...how cool on the Christmas presents...especially the Johnnie Depp sig!

Finally -- here are a few pics from our trip mid-December. I'm so sorry we didn't get pictures with Jen and her family when we ran in to them. I would have loved to meet up again, but knew they wouldn't want the stomach virus I picked up on our third day....

This is what we found when we opened our door. I've become really good friends with people on the designs thread, and they called IPO to ask their help getting me a good view and all kinds of surprises to help cheer me up right after Mom passed away.

Hi Flo. Those were Buzz Lightyear electronic claws. They have been asking for them for years and they finally caught me at a weak moment....

Thanks for the compliments on the shirts. The white with yellow Mickey's were from our cruise -- my good friend Denise, who designed them for me, suggested taking them, since I hadn't really had time to do all the shirts we wanted to do before our trip this time. She also designed the red/yellow one with Santa Mickey and the palm tree with character ornaments. The green shirt was the PDF of our Christmas card. Randy printed it out and ironed them on for me.

We really got tons of compliments and attention. We rode Soarin' as the First Family, completely by ourselves, after our white and yellow shirts caught the attention of a CM.

Marci, thanks for sharing the pictures. Sorry to read that you caught the stomach virus...yes...we are thankful we didn't get it. We did get a picture of our families I have to post it. It was really great running into you and your family at WDW.

So....is anyone thinking about going on the reported Mexico Summer 2008 cruises? Our original plans was to cruise June 2008 since its our 15th anniversary and since we missed the last time the Magic was on the West Coast we are definitely planning on doing it this time.

We are thinking about the first or second week in June. Can't wait till the announcement is made on Jan. 17th.

Jen -- I'm so glad to hear you had a good trip. Yes -- we are thinking about cruising sometime in June in 2008. Our trip this year is June 20 - 30, with the 24th - 28th on the Wonder.

FYI -- Lisa is doing a very interesting trip report on the Cruise/trip report thread about her latest cruise.

I hope you are all well.

Marci the photos were lovely and was such a nice touch with the balloons.
It seems such a long time before I can get back to the USA - and disney. Dave and I are talking about going Dec 19th - Jan 2nd 2008 -2009!!! Depends on prices of flights etc...

I am counting down till our holiday to MArbella (you'll notice my ticker). MArbella is on the southern coast of Spain. I hoping to practice the my spanish when Im there LOL. I had the second half of my exam on Thursday - so Im now awaiting the results. Lisa's Peanut butter did help me to relax though!

I have also started Weightwatchers (again lol) this week and Im going to try my best. Its difficult with the medication IM on, but at least im trying. (funny Dave says Im very trying at times )

2008??? I wish! We have no plans of going now but I might be able to talk Dan into it. The fact that we don't have to buy plane tickets might be a help.
But as I have said many times before.....I hope to see you all when you come to CA! I can show you the OC. And of course meet you at Disneyland!!

We were planning to cruise June 2008, hoping for the Virgin Islands - and booked a dummy date for 2 rooms onboard - but, we'll have to wait for the announcement before we decide for sure. Valerie - we would LOVE to fly to the West Coast and spend a few days sight seeing and visit your family, then take the cruise. $$$$ I'm seeing lots of dollar signs. We've even talked about trying the Freedom of the Seas if that doesn't work out. Would I be miserable on RC ships after sailing twice with Disney?

Hi Carla -- I don't think you'd be miserable -- we liked RCL, but do prefer Disney.

Helen -- I agree with Carla -- I'm happy to be a WW cheerleader! I'm a huge fan of that program, as I've lost more than 50 pounds following it.

Marci, your trip looked wonderful. Have to agree with everyone else...the balloon release sounded like a great idea!!!! The shirts too were fantastic. I would love to learn how to do that!

We would love to do the West Coast cruising, but had been considering a Sea World week long camp for Abby, especially...starting to think that route for career. Also, the kids have been invited for the last couple of years to head over to Scotland and Ireland for an intensive golf camp and competition. We had thought that next summer might be the right year. Now we will have to figure out if we can squeeze in a cruise.

Tom told me the other morning that i am in need of a cruise...not getting too much sleep these days. People are starting to make more frequent comments about some of my artwork, both canvas and clothing...and encouraging me to start my own shop. That has me thinking and painting. We shall see. I would love to start by putting some of the work in a couple of shops before venturing out on my own. anyway...I am in full agreement with him. I would LOVE a cruise right about now.

This has been the longest stretch with no parks in several years. We are all heading down for a long weekend at the beginning of March. Yeah!

Tif -- the design threads I was talking about are under Just for Fun, Creative DISigns. There are a number of threads, but if you go in to the sticky The DIS Design Gallery, there are links to some of the designers and their work. The monster thread DDA Trouble free zone is the one I started on at its inception -- when it was combined on another board. This is the second large thread, but it's so big and has gotten troublesome to read -- really silly banter, but there are some nice people over there. I rarely keep up now, but they have been free therapy for me -- letting me vent, sharing joys just really caring people.

These things would be a piece of cake for you, as creative as you are. Just print them out on transfer paper, iron them on and that is it! I even printed some of the ones out on magnetic paper to use on our door.

But be warned -- it can be addicting!
