Do you know if you can take juice box drinks on the plane for little ones? My dgs (who turns three tomorrow!) sips on them during take offs and landings and it helps the pressure in his ears.

I know formula is allowed but I don't know about the juice boxes. Anyone?

No. The only beverage allowed through security is formula. You need to ask the flight attendant for juice as soon as you board if it helps him during takeoff.

We flew last week - you can't even bring beverages purchased in the secure areas onboard! They still serve drinks aboard, though.

We were told everytime we got a water or coke that it had to be finished before we boarded the plane (after we had been through the security). We also saw a man with some gels (deodorant, shaving gel)...I guess he had to toss them. Good luck.

Is lip stick still off limits? Anything else that would be in my purse? I don't want to have to throw anything away!!! :smooth:

Yes, all you will have to deal with is a longer, bumpier ride, with stops for freight trains and who knows what else.

I will happily check a bag and get on a plane.

Everything you need to know...and more.

Permitted and Prohibited Items (the link has the exact list, I can't post it because it is in table form)

Be Prepared for Enhanced Security - Smart Security Saves Time
Can I Take It?

Due to enhanced security measures liquids, gels, lotions and other items of similar consistency will not be permitted in carry-on baggage. These types of items must be packed in your checked baggage.

Additionally, liquids, gels and lotions purchased beyond the checkpoint but must be disposed of before boarding the aircraft.

To ensure the health and welfare of certain air travelers the following items are permitted.
You are permitted to bring solid cosmetics and personal hygiene items as such lipstick, lip balm and similar solids. Please remember these items must be solid and not liquid, gel or aerosol.

Please keep in mind, that while we cannot provide an exhaustive list of items covering all eventualities, all liquids, gels, or aerosols of any kind are prohibited at security checkpoints, in airport sterile areas, and aboard aircraft. You can pack these items in your checked baggage.

We ask for your cooperation in the screening process by being prepared before you arrive. We also ask that you follow the guidelines above and try not to over-think these guidelines. Please pack liquids, gels, and aerosols in your checked baggage even if you do not normally check a bag.

In addition to liquids, gels, and aerosols numerous other potentially dangerous items are not permitted in carry-on baggage. We strongly encourage travelers to read more about previously prohibited items to avoid complications during screening.

Lipstick is fine. Just no liquids or gels. They had TSA doing a random check right before entering the plane at Midway this week. Haven't seen that anywhere else though.

Well yeah if time is important I would fly but I only travel for leisure and time isn't important this time. I just don't care for flying to being with and the new restrictions to prevent Juice Box Terrorism makes it even less appealing to me.

They were also doing random checks in San Diego this week also. They asked for everyone to finish any drink purchased after they passed through security or throw it away. They did let me bring the sandwich I bought from Starbucks on.

I bring suckers for my kids to suck on as we take off and land. Those seem to help with the ears.

Does anybody else find it strange that KY Jelly is considered essential liquid medication??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds like the mile high club is still around! :thumbsup2

I noticed that too :-)

Actually you CAN take juice on board.

IF it's for a young child or baby, baby juice is allowed. Juice boxes, probably not, and the baby juice needs to be tasted. It's a good job really, my niece is diabetic and drinks like a fish!

Are you talking about the US, or the UK. I believe if you look at the TSA website, you'll see that this is not the case in the US. Only formula or breastmilk, and no tasting necessary.

In general, looking at the TSA website is always a good idea. The rules are changing; many people expect a change in the no liquids/gels rule very soon. Unfortunately, they probably won't have the guts to remove the entire worse-that-useless rule, but hopefully it will be better than today.

Sure except if you are trying to make a cruise you have to leave 2 days earlier than you need to just to be sure you get there with all the delays and stops and break downs.

They are doing random checks at the gates at BWI as well, but not at Orange County.

I hear that KY Jelly is used to lubricate catheter tubes, which would make it an essential medical supply.
