I saw a TV show about health - bed bugs.
They mentioned it is possible to have bed bugs invade your luggage and be in the airplane (seats, overhead compartments).

What is the best way to avoid bed bugs on an airplane ?

Should we place our overhead carry on bag in a large plastic bag ?

How to check our seat without making a scene ?

What would you do ?

I know bed bugs can be anywhere and are a real pain to get rid of.

But seriously? Check your airplane seat? Never would have thought of it. And then what? Make a scene and get off the plane? :confused3

I guess I am not jumping on the bandwagon of freaking out about every little thing that is out there.

Only way to avoid bedbugs on a plane is to drive.

I agree with the above poster. Find something important to worry about. I can just imagine being held up boarding a plane because someone was checking their seat for bedbugs! :sad2:

Bed bugs can be transported via luggage so any where a piece of luggage is placed is subjected to picking up bed bugs. You can pick them up in the cargo area of a plane, overhead bins in a plane & a truck of a vehicle. There is no way to avoid them.
No need to fret heck you can get lice from the headrest of an airplane seat. Catch germs from the air you breath. Oh and lets not forget that germy tray table YUCK. And the ice cubes could have been made in an ice maker that had mold growing in it. So there are a ton of things you could worried about catching when you fly but why... These are all things that could or could not happen.

OMG! I'm never leaving my house again. LOL!:scared1::rotfl2:

OP - what would you do if you found bed bugs? Get off of the plane? I'm pretty sure that that is not covered by insurance (assuming you even have any), so you'd be out the money for the flight and buying a new ticket (on another flight) is going to be very expensive since you'd be buying a "walk up" fare.

As for your last question (what would I do). Nothing to do with bed bugs. Get on plane. Put carry-on in overhead bin and/or under the seat in front of me. Fly to destination (okay, be flown to destination). Get off of plane.

They creep me out but, luckily I have not had to deal with them.

You can take precautions when you return home. Don't bring your luggage and clothes into the house. Wash and dry your clothes in hot for awhile. There are sites you can go to for more information.
