Any of the Podcast Crew Planning on Doing the D23 Scavenger Hunt?

I'll be in Orlando, but I'm not sure if I'll be doing the Scavenger Hunt or not.

I did the one in California, so I thought I would pass on a couple tips (if the format is similar and it sounds like it will be):

First of all, when you book, have an idea of a Team Name and who will be on your team. They will ask that.

Second, the questions are sorted by difficulty only, not by section of the Park. You could have a easy Tomorrowland question followed by an easy Frontierland question. BRING HIGHLIGHTERS and take a few minutes to go through the question book, that way you're not having to crisscross the Park.

Also, as the questions get harder, there are some that you'll need to find information from 2 different areas of the park (ex Add up the cost of a Dole Whip from Adventureland, an ice cream cone from Main Street and a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar).

I like that they're basically doing 4 separate Hunts, one in each Park. It makes it more fair. We started in Disneyland and ran out of time without every getting to California Adventure.

Good luck to everyone!

Thanks so much for the tips!! I'm really glad they also posted rules on the D23 site about no running and the entire group staying together at all times. I was afraid that we'd see a mad rush of teams climbing over each other to get to different areas of the park which almost turned me off to the idea of doing it. Are all the questions related to things that are in the park on that specific day or are any of them 'test your knowledge' questions? I was thinking of doing a lot of research on each of the parks before going although I'm not sure if it would help or not...

It would help to have a basic knowledge of the Parks, but for most questions, you have to actually be there to answer them.

Here are some examples (from Disneyland) of 1 point questions:

In Frontierland, what is the last word on the sign about the Log Fort?

How often does Tropical Imports on the Jungle Cruise receive new shipments?

Inside Pinocchio's Daring Journey, Honest John's signs read "Fortunes Told", "Cards" and....?

What object is in the top secton of Mr. Toad's coat of arms?

In the Indiana Jones queue, you shouldn't pull the rope because the gentleman is handling what?

You enter Space Mountain's Space Port through which Launch Port?

Here are some examples (from Disneyland) of 5 point questions:

Find the following street addresses around Disneyland:
*Main Street Firehouse
*Decorative Hats in Frontierland
*Blue Bayou
Total the numbers. Write that number as your answer.

Find the Disneyland dedication plaque and indentify the following letters.
*Fourth letter of the 67th word
*First letter of the 10th word
*First letter of the 54th word
*Fourth letter of the 34th word
*Second letter of the 23rd word
*First letter of the 58th word
Now unscramble the letters to form a familiar word. Write that word as your answer.

Disneyland has many varieties of hot dogs to choose from. If you ordered one of each of the following, how much would it all cost you before tax?
*Chili Cheese Hot Dog at Refreshment Corner
*Hand-dipped Corn Dog at Stage Door Cafe
*Premium Hot Dog at Pluto's Dog House
Write that amount (dollars and cents) as your answer.

Here are some examples (from Disneyland) of 10 point questions:

*What is the current population of Big Thunder?
*Go to the attraction that is designated by that number on the Disneyland guide map.
*Listen to the song that is played as you exit that attraction.
*Go to the attraction based on the film in which that song first appeared.
*Face the entrance of that attraction, then turn around.
*What piece of weaponry is prominently displayed there?
Write the name of that item as your answer.

*What animal sits atop the Guided Tours Gardens (include the color)?
*Go to the attraction/building that has a similar name.
*What two characters greet you as you walk into that building?
Write those two character names as your answer.

*On the Jungle Cruise, how many total tribesmen are in the camp and lying in wait?
*Enter the attraction that correlates to that number on the Disneyland park guide map.
*The name on the doghouse will direct you to your next location.
*Once at that location find the license plate on a vehicle near the entrance/exit.
Write what is on that plate as your answer.

WOW!!!

That sounds like FUN to me. :cool1:

I will be there and was going to register tomorrow (fingers crossed).

So, Tom... it wasn't clear to me that I would have to have the Team Name ready at registration tomorrow. And also I couldn't figure out if I had to have all of the members' names at that time too.
My plan was to register for 4 people, but figure out who they were later. Is that possible? What if I pick people, and then it changes before May?

Any info you have would be very helpful.
I LOVE the sample questions!!!

It's going to be me and DH. mjaclyn, if you wanted to join us, that would be great.

I know I doesn't say that you need the team name and participants when you sign up, but i know people were asked that info for the DL Hunt. I'm sure things can be changed or adjusted afterwards.

You're going to have a lot of fun. We played in the D23 Scavenger Hunt, too. (Tom's team beat ours, darn it). One thing we did was split up the booklet among team members so we could look for different answers in the same land. It helped. :)

So, you're admitting that you cheated?? ;)

"•Team members must be together at ALL times. (In the case of bathroom breaks, team members may wait outside the restroom.)"

D23 Scavenger Hunt representatives at the Resort may, at any time, check a team to make sure it has the appropriate number of members. Teams that do not remain together will be disqualified with no appeals. "

Wow, you know me better than that, right? :p

We stayed together, but we had different sheets so we could look at the different questions. There was nothing in the rules about keeping the booklets intact.

(Same team - we've been playing MouseAdventure for a few years, and those rules were the same, so we know not to break them)

There's no fun playing the game if you cheat. :thumbsup2

Thanks SO much for asking us!! DH and I actually asked a couple of family members but they're not sure if they're going to be in WDW around that time yet. I'll check with DH and try to get back to you by tomorrow...
