We will be at AKL Jambo until 1/1 and then moving over to BLT on 1/1. Was planning to hit up TOTW for 12/30 or 12/31 ---- THEN, I found out that those are black-out dates....EEEK!

Any advice? We have not done NYE before. I know it will be crazy crowded, just wanted to see if anyone had other advice for parks/resorts/etc.

Thinking EPCOT or DHS for NYE? Arrive later in the day maybe?? Thanks!

There is nothing you can do. You have to stay at BLT on those dates. No exceptions. Maybe try to waitlist. Was there this past holidays. Made sure I was at BLT those nights. Maybe you can rent a boat to watch fireworks?

Epcot is wall-to-wall on NYE, all day. If you go to Epcot, having an ADR to dine is almost essential; even QS lines are insane.

AK is the quietest park that day. Not sure what will happen with DHS. A Galactic Spectacular New Year would be killer, but I can't see them trying it because the park can't take the traffic right now.

Magic kingdom does the same fireworks on 12/30. That's the best day to visit MK. Epcot will be crowded, but it's also the largest.

EPCOT is the park I would stay away from.
If I ever go again on NYE, I will just go to the Boardwalk area, stay outside the park around the Gateway area, and just watch the fire works from there. It is much too crowded within the park to move around and enjoy the time there.

I've been to WDW for about 6 NYEs. I do go to MK on the 30th to see the fireworks. I have also done MK and Illumination cruises, though on NYE they come to about $100 per person. The captains generally include alcohol drinks and things like chocolate covered strawberries on NYE.

The only park that I would avoid on NYE is MK, we do alright in Epcot and DHS. We have decided to do DHS this year. On the 30th we are staying at BLT to see the fireworks from the lounge. This past year we took it easy, went up there for both nights. In Epcot we go to the movies to stay out of crowds!

By the way, we got the 30th at BLT last year via a wait list.

Another fun thing to do on NYE is to go to Disney Springs to the Irish Pub, Raglan Road. Make reservations for around 6pm. At 7pm they celebrate the new year (because it's midnight in Ireland). They have a good little free show with Irish dancing and music and hand out free sparkling bubbly, hats, and noise makers. They have the same celebration there at midnight.

Oh, we knew we would not try to get in to TOTW if it was blacked out...just wondering any advice from others who had been in the area that weekend!! We will try for MK on 12/30 for sure!! Thanks!!

Our experience was different than the ones above. We were at WDW last year for the first time for NYE We've been to WDW countless times). Obviously every park is going to crowded. We were at EPCOT and really enjoyed it. Was it crowded yes, but we were able to walk around, we ate at Monsieur Paul's in France around 930 and stayed at the park until closing. There were bands and entertainment throughout the Park and plenty of kiosks with drinks. Now obviously as it gets close to midnight it hard to move around but otherwise we did fine.
