Curious if we have any nurses, nursing sstudents or CNA's on these boards that wear Croc's to work. If so, I'd like to hear why you chose them as your work shoe and any pros/cons of the style you wear. Before purchasing, I'd like a little more info....I think the style without the holes on top would be best but curious if I should get side vents or not....

Thanks!

I'm a sec in a hospital 12 hour shift and I've been wearing the croc's for a couple of years now. I've gotten alot of my co-workers wearing them now. LOVE THEM!!! I use to have a back ach every night leaving work and that has gone away since wearing them. Most of us wear the one with the holes they just wear shoe covers when they have to go into the OR to do a case.

HTA and good luck

I'm not a nurse but I do have the Crocs with no vents. I wear them here in the winter with snow. My feet get really HOT in them. I can't imagine wearing them all day. I have a desk job and I wear mine to work and then change to my holey one :cool1:

I love my Crocs. I have ones for each season.

They were just bannished by our ID department! Sorry your feet may get contaminated or spread germs! They said they were a hazard for us! Back to the Danskos!

I love my crocs at work.I would have to work at least 4 days in a row to have any foot pain.My favorite part is to be able to bleach them before I co home.Keeps the germs out of my house better than any gym shoe.I can't even tell you where my gym shoes are right now

Definitely Dansko! Can't have any "open" shoes in the ER, and the rubber/plastic is just too hot and smelly! my Dansko's

I'm an RN and I wear crocs for my 12 hour shifts. I have 4 pairs, 3 of which are the beach style and one pair without the holes (I can't remember the name of the style.) A good majority of the RNs and CNAs wear them on my unit. They are the most comfortable shoes I have every worn for work. My legs no longer ache at the end of 12 hours on my feet. Plus I can clean them before I come home - I wipe them down with Avaguard.

Wow, those are some spendy shoes! What style do you wear? (I just applied to nursing school; wondering what's the in shoe to wear besides crocs!).

I personally do not wear them. some do wear them in the er I work in but they are too flat for me. One of the nurses stumbled in them and landed right on her face. that would be me if I wore them. I wear some mules from target. they are probably my 5th pair. quite a few of us wear them. I like the higher heal. It also is better for my achilles tendon. I dont notice the tendonitis when I wear them for 12 hours unlike my sneakers..

Danskos are AWESOME!!! I got my first pair at the Walking Store and paid full price, but have purchased all my pairs since at the Dansko Outlet where you can get them for about half price. Actually, I need to head out there again and get some replacements! If you aren't fortunate enough to live near the outlet, you can order them more cheaply online at their clearance store. I like the ones with the backs so I don't walk out of them running around the ER. When I did my surgery rotation, the backless ones were better for just standing.

huh, what kind of crocs are you wearing that get smelly? my whole family - all ages wear crocs, and have really stinky sneakers but not crocs;.....we just throw them in the washer or hose them off if they get dirty but they have never smelled before.....i am an OT at a childrens hospital, and tons of us wear crocs - lately we have been putting disney jibbitz on them and the kids just love that!!! i have to admit, i have given a few jibbitz away to my patients who are wearing crocs:) those kids are just soooo cute!!!

I'm not the clumsy type, but I can't wear any backstrap or clog shoes. The CROCS feel "floppy" on my feet. I work in the NICU and in scares me to death that I might trip with a baby in my arms:scared: It's tennis shoes for me:thumbsup2

There are a LOT of people at the hospital where I work who wear Crocs. I see quite a lot of them wearing the Beach model w/ the holes on top. I am not a nurse, but I wear Crocs almost every day. I used to have sore feet at the end of the day, but those days are GONE.

If I had my druthers, I would probably go for the Professional model. They are a little contoured, don't have holes in top but DO have them along the sides. They look very nice, in my opinion. I think DH will go over the edge if I buy one more pair though....I already have 5-6 pairs.

I do have a pair that is totally closed in....they did take some getting used to. I remember when I first wore them, I put them away for a LONG time before I wore them ever again. But then I got a 2nd wind and have been wearing them quite a bit this winter.

I think for the money, Crocs are a GREAT option for nursing staff. The nursing shoes are so darn expensive!

I have one pair of Crocs and two from Payless. I also have 3 pairs of other shoes so I rotate a lot depending on my scrubs that day! I wear the ones with the holes. They are very comfortable and keep your feet ventilated. Quite a few nurses wear them at my hospital.

So I am comparing the Professional, Beach or Cayman (which look exactly the same to me!)

The Endeavor looks like it will be too hot with no air holes at all....

Of course I can't get over how cute those darn Mary Janes are tho!

I'm curious if the holes on top of the shoes cause any clean up issues at all for daily use......perhaps spills and such?

I'm a CNA at a nursing home overnights, and I wear my Aspen/Endeavors all the time to work. I wear cotton socks with them, and there's no smell/sweat problem. My feet used to be sore when I got home, when I wore my Reeboks "On Call" tennies, but not since I got my Crocs for Christmas.

I just got two more pair in the mail!

I am a nursing student (13 weeks left!!) I have to wear white shoes for clinicals, so got a pair of the white professional crocs. They were to replace the $80 nurse shoes I got at the uniform store. My feet KILLED at the end of a day. I get plantars fasciitis rather easily, which can take loooooooooonng to go away (months, if I am lucky). I have not gotten it, and have been doing clinicals for a year and a half.

I stuck with the professional crocs because there are no holes on the top (for yuckies to splash into), but there is ventilation around the sides instead. I do believe that Crocs can even be cleaned in an autoclave, but throwing them into the washer and dryer is supposed to kill germs. You can also just wipe them down with whatever germkilling wipes the hospital has around.

I used to be a Dansko girl but now will only wear Crocs. If I put on my old Danskos for even a few minutes I am amazed at how heavy they feel. My feet never hurt, feel hot, sticky or stinky even after a 12 hour shift. Plus you can get all kinds of colors to go with your scrubs. Not to mention the nurse jibbitz too. :)

love my crocs, wear them to work all the time. wore them at disney as well, walked all over those parks ALL day for a week. feet never hurt. love, love, love them. :) maggie
