Any Nurses do agency work?

I was doing some agency per diem work thru one agency, but lately they have really been down on assignments, I am thinking of signing on with a different agency, just wondering any others experiences doing this.

i also do per diem on occasion for a doc friend as an NP, I would do the agency as RN.

I would ask the Doc friend for some references and market yourself directly to offices who employ NPs. You know they have to get sick, take vacations etc. It may not be as steady but the pay would be great when they came through!

I worked agency for about a year. I really liked it alot, but you have to be able to work independently. Not alot, if any, orientation. I ended up at one particular hospital for the most part, so that was great.
I stopped when the available shifts dried up. Great money, but not reliable consistently.

the one agency I am signed on with, I have been with them about 3 years now, and have only gone to one hospital for them. lately there just isn't any time to pick up there and its a small agency so they don't have a lot of contracts.
i am thinking of signing on with a larger agency.

judy thats a good idea. the majority of the medical practices around my area are group hospital owned, so I was thinking of sending my CV over to the hospital for any per diem NP positions.
I already have my friend with her eyes and ears open for anyone needing an NP per diem or part time. she does surgeries at 2 local hospitals so she is in contact with a lot of docs.

I seem to get all my jobs by word of mouth

My friend is a Podiatrist, so I help her out on occasion, but really podiatry is not my cup of tea
