Any NEW incentives...

wondering what incentives are going on right now? Maybe thinking of adding on :rolleyes1 (again).

hi fyi i just bought 200 points at akv ON 2/7/2010 they were 112 per point with a 15$ credit per point also they gave me 200 points from 2009 he didnt show me but told me blt was 120 per point and 5$ credit but didnt see that on the screen hope that helps already planning to go back did 10 nights this time 7th trip

we just got akv 100 plus the 100 2009uy points. 1500 off the top, i think it was $15 off a point. i am seeing some posts were there paying less than that. wonder if you can haggle?

Was this an add-on or did you buy in at 100 points?

AKV and HHI are both addons and you can buy in at 100 points at both as well for the same deal.

Am wanting to add on now, but maybe I should wait to see what incentives will be offered in March. Hmmmm:confused3

My guide mentioned that she thought there might be another webcast end of March/early April. We haven't bought yet and are thinking about waiting for webcast pricing. I've just started following this DVC board. Historically, has webcast pricing been better than the standard incentives?

Also curious where one would go for webcast information like links or availability of a new webcast. When calling Disney today (interested in BLT) I was given a hint that a Friends and Family deal was in the works although I wasn't told when it would happen, although the hint seemed like it was very soon. Yet reading about the webcasts I was just curious how one finds out when they become available.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, DVC doesn't price the "sold out" resorts the same as existing and the price you received of $101 is the going rate the last I heard. If you had gotten the $92/pt yours would be pretty much the first time I've heard of anyone getting a discount on the older resorts other than some special promo they were doing. The previous promos seemd to apply only to VB and HHI. I do remember one other report during a huge promotion for BLT that someone got a discount on either BWV or BCV.

Perhaps with all the ROFR's they've been doing at lower prices they've decided then can offer some discounts now but I've also got a feeling it's going to depend on how far a person's guide is willing to go for them.
I think you hit it right on spot with the thought it is all dependant upon the guide. This is why I think you are right. While we were at BLT we spoke with someone onsite at BLT. He offered us a somewhat less than attractive deal that did not include the contract extension nor did it include the lower price for the points. When we called and spoke with our normal guide he gave us many more incentives to help make our decision easier. Plus the monthly payments were almost $30/month less. That is why we never deal with anyone but our guide when it comes to making final decisions.

My guide is on vacation right now and won't be back till 2/22. I was wondering if AKV had 25 or 50 pt add-ons. I already have 225 but think i need 50 more. Any help on this would be great. From above I'm thinking it will be $115 with $15 off so $100 per point. If some one would clarify that would be great. This way when she calls me back I may already have a decision on if I want to add on.

The current price for AKV is $112/pt. They have been giving a $15/pt discount for add on's of 50 or more but that could change of course.

I may consider the add-on if it is at that price. Anyone know closing cost associated with a 50 pt add on at AKV if the price is $112 minus $15 per point incentive?

There are no add on costs when buying direct from Disney. :thumbsup2

Can anyone confirm that the current BLT deal is $120pt minus $5 with 2009 points?????

It was when I talked to my guide in early January. 2009 points of course depends on your UY. If it is February then you will not receive the 2009 points which is why they ended that "special" the end of January although it wasn't really a special. When you buy direct you get current UY points which is what all UY's except Feb are in.

Not to sound rude, but why is everyone so exited about an upcomming possible webcast that will offer AKV addons for around $97/pt, when you can buy resale today for around $87/pt. $10 less and no waiting.

Talked to our guide at the beginning of this week & that's what I was quoted.

FWIW, I was talking about a 100 pt add-on so I don't know for certain if the $5 off is for all point levels or not.

Whether or not you get 2009 will depend if you are still in your 2009 UY or not. We have an April UY so we would get 2009 points.

There are no closing costs for add-ons when going direct through Disney, which can add another $5-$10 per point difference to the resale price (which has closing costs) depending on the size of the contract.

More importantly for a lot of folks is the timing of the transaction. Going direct is almost an instantaneous transaction. You usually can have your new points available within 24 hours of making the transaction. With resale it can take 6-8 weeks and there is always the chance Disney will exercise ROFR on the contract and you have to start over again.

The other thing besides lack of closing costs is that most UY's will still get 2009 points buying direct and it may be more difficult to find the exact resale contract you want that has the equivalent. You could figure another $10/pt value for those.

If an existing member wants to add on 50 points, and let's use a lower amount, say $86 for a small 50 points resale:

$86 x 50 = $4300 + roughly $350 closing/transfer costs = $4650, making that $93 a point. On top of that, if you get a resale contract with certain use years that comes fully loaded with 2009 points, the buyer may have to reimburse the owner for the maintenance fees. However, you could get all of those points for no additional cost through DVC.

Also, even if you didn't have to reimburse seller for the 2009 points on resale, you almost always have to reimburse seller for the m/fs all the 2010 points, even if the use year is, say, August; whereas in the same situation when buying direct from DVC, DVC will pro rate the maintenance fees so you only start paying fees in August.

Then for resale you need to wait roughly 30 - 60 days for the process of ROFR, then closing/recording. With DVC add on you could get your points very quickly and use them [I can't recall how long -- I want to say within a few days when I paid with a CC card in full but this was awhile ago.]

So when comparing resale and direct, always take into account:

(1) the closing costs (and the closing costs increase for larger amount of points) ;
(2) plus any cost of reimbursement for fees for current or upcoming year's points vs. cost of getting those same points to use buying from DVC; plus
(3) the value you place on the length of time before you can use the points (if that matters to you).

When it comes to larger contracts or contracts at Vero Beach or HHI, one definitely can save a bundle buying resale even with all the considerations mentioned above. However, when it comes to smaller add-on contracts, resale is not always cheaper/better option.
