We will be in WDW 9/23-10/1/05. Has anyone heard of any new hurricanes headed that way. My mother-in-law says we should stay home, that it is to dangerous this time of year. (not happening!)

Thanks
Tina

There's a tropical wave east of the islands that should enter the Caribbean in a couple of days--it's got a long shot at development. Other than that, there are no candidates for Phillipe. :)

That is still over a week away. I think that is too long to predict whether a low pressure system may develop into a hurricane.

I follow the Atlantic basin during hurricane season, and pay attention to every invest the NRL gives a number to. I guess I prefer having some idea of whether or not it's even a possibility.

The Hurricane Gods will here you!!!!!! :ssst:

Don't borrow trouble Chica!!! :teeth:

There are two tropical waves developing. One could impact the FL weather this weekend increasing our chance of rain. The other is too far out to know what will happen.

www.wftv.com is a great Orlando weather station.

At this point in time they haven't a CLUE if any "wave" out there will actually become a hurricane--much less where it would even head.
We have good friends in Edisto SC. They were going bonkers with Opehelia predictions even when it was very near them. Yes--it will hit. No--it won't. Then Yes. Then no. Then maybe. Then maybe not. Then probably not.

That is true but you have to be aware of all of them. I can remember last year when Charlie took a turn and impacted a lot of people. It caught a lot of people off guard because they weren't paying attention.

Yep. It's because they can't predict hurricanes with any degree of accuracy that everyone needs to be aware.
Which isn't a real suprise, as they have a tough enough time getting the daily local forecast correct.

I remember last year hurricane Jeanne was heading north into the mid atlantic with no threat to land. At the last minute she did a loop -d-loop and went right in the middle of our vacation :rotfl:

we went last year on a last minute trip and I remember seeing no storms heading to Fla, so we went.

There really is no way to predict these storms. They can form off the coast of Africa or in the caribbean. I would say the 5 day forcast is the most reliable. September is prime hurricane season, but we always go to WDW anyway. I would rather run thru the rain drops than the crowds :sunny:

Satellite Images Indicate That The Tropical Wave Located About 1000
Miles East-southeast Of The Southern Windward Islands Remains
Well-organized. This System Has The Potential To Become A Tropical
Depression Over The Next Couple Of Days As It Moves Toward The West At 10-15 Mph.

There are two areas of interest, but I don't know if either of them are an invest yet. :confused3
Okay, I checked, one is an invest, the other is not. All you can do is keep an eye on the weather. These things can ramp up quickly or take their sweet time.
