Hi everyone, I've been looking into the Essential Nails training courses on the net - the course costs £314 obviously I don't want to spend this much if the training isn't any good, have any of you used this course by any chance or for thise who are trained but didn't train from home what avenues did you go down to train? I'd be interested to hear any experiences etc that you have had.

I'm thinking of this mainly for when I have to start work again after my maternity leave as working for myself would be so much more convenient (I don't want to leave Shelby!! :guilty: )

Thanks guys! :)

My DD is currently doing her NVQ2 hairdressing at a local college and I'm sure they do beauty courses there including nail stuff - might be worth trying you local college to see if they run courses. Probably get a more recognised qualification at the end too :)

I don't know anything about nails but I can see why you don't want to leave Shelby

my wife done her training in college as a beauty therapist too 2 years.
personally i would not recommend a crash course, i think what you are talking about is 2 or 3 days training and then a futher day a few weeks down the line.
would you want to pay money to someone not with the proper training , or someone who had trained for 2 or 3 years ,i know who i would rather go to.
My wifes friend done a course similiar to the one you are talking about and personally she hadnt a clue, and actually caused a lot of damage to one of her friends nails, as she was only taught to do gel nail enhancements and not given the proper training which is quite intensive.
would you let someone fix your car who had only done a crash course in motor mechanics, or let someone deliver your baby after a crash course in midwifery , i think not, so how do you expect to train in something which is quite complex in 3 days.
get the proper training ,you will benefit in the long run

I don't think I mentioned anything about 3 days! It's not a crash course, you can take as long as you need to perfect your technique.

I appreciate your feedback and this is why I was asking the question to get a better insight into what would be the best route to go down.

HI

Hope this may help....if you give your local college a ring you will probably find that a nail course will be starting in January. Up until last year I work as a course advisor at a college. Nail technique/art was the most popular course so always had new start dates. You may find that several courses are running as its so popular in an evening and day so you could even work around Shelby. Its also alot cheaper!!...the course is not too long and you can work at your own speed aswell.

You dont need to have any beauty thearpist training its a course that can be done seperate. The 2 year thearpist course covers all thearpy including nails but you can just do it on its own.

Hope this helps and good luck!!....(hugs to Shelby xx)
