My DD and I will be heading to WDW for the first time in mid-September. I now have the basics, hotel, flights and park ticket, as well as one character meal - the "storybook" one at Akershus with various princesses. Now I'm just not sure what other restaurants/character meals to consider. I'm thinking we'd enjoy the ice cream social and the luau at the Poly. Other than that, I'm not sure where else to go/make PS's. We'll be there 8 nights so we can fit in a few special meals without leaving us overbooked.

Also, would it be "too much" to bring special outfits for her to where to one or two special meals? For example, she has an "hula princess" set (my daughter's name for a set she wore to my sister's luau party in June - I made a grass skirt with matching leis for neck, head, ankles and wrists ) For the princess breakfast, I was thinking of making a princess dress/costume. Both could be slipped over her regular clothes so she wouldn't be hampered as we're visiting attractions before or after.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I want to make this a very special trip for both of us since it is our first to WDW and we probably won't be back soon (DL CA is much closer for us so we'll likely go there more easily, I imagine).

BWT - We'll be staying at WL if that should be considered in deciding things.

Thanks

Hi LisaZoe and welcome to the DIS. I think it would be cute to dress your daughter specially for your character dining experiences!! We have been to the ice cream social, and I would highly recommend it. The ice cream is great, and the character interaction is wonderful too. Donald's Breakfastasaurus in AK is a lot of fun, and IMO, you can't beat Chef Mickey's breakfast.

Happy planning!!

When my DS was 3, he loved having lunch with Pooh and Tigger at the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. In fact we are going back in August and he told me he wants to have lunch with Pooh again (he's 6 now). Have a great trip. I think 3 is a great age for a first trip. My DS still remembers things from his first trip.

I will second the Crystal Palace. My DD4 and DS2 LOVED Pooh and Friends at MK! The food was really good too! My kids still talk about the Pooh and Piglet waffles.

I will "Third" the Crystal Palace! We got to see Pooh, Tigger, Eyore (sp?) and Piglet. I was impressed with how accessible those characters were. I also liked the fact that it was a "buffet" style restaurant, where the children aren't expected to stay in their seats the whole time.
Enjoy your stay.

I'm in for the Crystal Palace too. Also at 3 she could go to the Wonderland Tea Party at GF. My girls loved it. As for the grass skirt - it's adorable. I have grass skirts and the leis they got at the Poly last year for them to wear at O'Hana's. Have fun.

I vote for Crystal Palace. Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore are always a big hit with the young kids. Plus the food is terrific!

I also vote for a Chef Mickey's breakfast. It's also buffet style and the food was very good.

I think it's a wonderful idea to dress her up! Go for it.

She will have many wonderful memories. She's the perfect age for a first trip.

Have a wonderful time!
