A while ago posters who had tried calling the BB number while at WDW were reporting that CM's were telling them that BB's were being phased out. Just wondering if this is what people are still being told. Has anyone tried calling for a BB recently?

I still find it hard to believe that they are getting rid of them.
I guess I am frustrated that they wouldn't be offering the same BB this year that they did in the same time period last year (we wanted to book something for Oct or Nov 2011 and so far there are no discounts - at this time last year you could book a BB for a 40% room discount at deluxes for all of 2010, excluding blackouts).

My mom and sister where just there and she tried to get a bounceback for Feb and was told none are being offered at this time. Not sure if they will be coming back or not but that is what she was told

Not sounding good ... I will cling to "at this time"! :rotfl: We aren't going for another month. Maybe TPTB will realize that with the number of disappointed enquiries/enquirers they are losing out on potential bookings.

This past August when I was at the Contemporary I saw that our Housekeeper took our Room Only Bounceback offer sheet out of our room because her manager said the offer was ending, even though it was still valid since we had not checked out like the rules state and there were valid dates upcoming that was printed on it when you could get the Bounceback rate in 2010. However I took the sheet back and we were able to get a Bounceback rate for December 2010 at the Contemporary, then switched our days and resort to the Boardwalk Inn later that month. Now I am not sure if she meant the Room Only offer was ending or the offer in general was ending because a few days later when we checked-in at the Boardwalk Inn since we did a split stay, there was another Room Only Bounceback offer sheet which was the same one we just had at the Contemporary. So I found it very weird that at the Contemporary the Housekeepers were told to take them away, but we still had it at the Boardwalk Inn.

Sounds like typical WDW ... someone tells you something ... someone tells you something else ... :sad2: I guess I'll just hope that there isn't a current BB being offered, but maybe there will be one when we go (though not holding my breath!)

I was there Oct 1-5 and had a BB sheet in my room. It was the free dining offer that is available to the general public. Same dates same everything.

Came back last Thursday. No BB offer in the room, and called the extension and they told me the offers where the general public ones.

They "where trying something different this time"

In the past, FD offers were for basic dining including values. Not this time :(

Well no one actually told us something else and I just found it odd that I saw the Bounceback sheet at in our room at the Boardwalk Inn. Now after the Housekeeper at the Contemporary told me the offer was ending we then got on the phone and made our original December 2010 reservation to get the Bounceback rate. When then switched it a few days later at the Boardwalk Inn, so either she got the information wrong and if it was ending no one from the Disney Reservation Center said something like oh you just this in time because it's not good anymore or just about to end.

Unfortunately their "something different" does not cover the last quarter of 2011, unlike historical BB's (which went to the end of 2010). I would get it if the public offerings were equal to what you could have gotten with a BB (because what would be the point of offering both), but when they are actually offering less it would appear that TPTB are no longer interested in giving a nice perk to current resort guests.

argh, this is very frustrating to me too! we are going in December, and I hoped at that time to have a BB available then. Get my dh to commit to returning while he's still in the midst of a fabulous vacation (and before the credit card bill arrives, hahaha)

I am sure something will eventually turn up for that date, but I actually prefer to plan wayyy in advance. let's us budget our other trips during the year, etc.

This is why I don't really get the logic behind suspending BB offers. They catch bookings while people are immersed in the Disney euphoria (and before they see their final bills! :rotfl:) Even if they leave fliers for the current public offering laying in the rooms it does nothing for someone wanting to book later in the year (2011). Definitely a missed opportunity for some bookings. While they have a lot of loyal customers, I'm sure there's also a lot of people who wouldn't go home, go ahead and book for next year at rack rate and wait for a public code to drop.

IRRC for the mid october timeframe, BB offers (FD) would only be good until the end of September.

The following BB offer would always be a %off rooms.

BTW - note that the %off offer ends Nov. 21st. Very possible it will either be extended or a different one will come out, overlapping with the existing FD offer.

PINS are out for %off room for dates in the spring/summer. More than likely it'll be that...

:thumbsup2 I sure hope those become the next offers. However, I need a Fall 2011 offer. I'm already trying to plan that trip ;) :rotfl:

Us too! Public offerings don't extend that far in advance, but the fall BB's used to.

I doubt it, seems that they are really pushing the Free dinning and it seems to be a take it or leave it kind of deal... Unless you have an AP, discount, military discount or the sort. I loved the BB, it really made my travel for the Nov-Dec travels nice, but since those dates are getting crowded because the secrete is out, we may need to find some where else to visit or Disney at a different time:)

We don't have any BB in our room at Poly right now either. I want to book for Fall 2011, but not particularly interested in FD. Guess I will wait and see what happens later in the year.....

Does anyone think the lack of fourth quarter discounts next year could have anything to do with WDW's 40th anniversary October 1st? Maybe they think that will be enough to attract people, or maybe they have something up their sleeves tied specifically to that event that they aren't going to release yet.

A person can hope . . . .

Without a good discount of some sort, I'll be reduced to day trips. :sad1:
