Well the first report was bad. Just wondering if anyone else is back from FR-QT to give us some more updates. I will be there June 18. I hope things are getting better since the first report... thanks...corvair

Well, since no one else is responding . . . I spent one night, May 31 at the French Quarter. It was my first time there. Just for comparison purposes I have also stayed at Riverside; both in Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou. Here's what I thought. I assume the Food Court was redone, I had eaten there once before, and it looked pretty much the same to me. Cashiers may have changed. I saw nothing about taking a slip and going from place to place. I grabbed my tray, got what I wanted, and walked up to the cashier to pay for it all. Definitely very similar to the Riverside Food Court now. CMs were very nice, and seemed to be glad to be there working. When I checked in the air conditioning was not working in the main building or the food court, but it did seem to be fixed by the next morning.

A few weeks ago, when I was staying in Magnolia Bend, the boat captain said they were repainting the outside and I do believe that. The outside of the buildings looked very nice. The rooms obviously were not redone. The room I was in showed some wear and tear. Clean, but showing it's age.

I was looking forward to staying here, I have always loved the look of the outside of it. Now that I have, I have to say that I will stay in Riverside (either part) before I stay at FQ again. Don't get me wrong, if there was no room in Riverside, I would have no problem staying in FQ, but after visiting all options, the rooms and over-all atmoshphere of Riverside are more to my taste. Please understand this comparison is based on one night at FW, one night in Magnolia Bend, and one week in Alligator Bayou. It is pretty much a comparison of one particular room, to one other particular room. Your experience may vary!!;)

We just got back, and we stayed at POR, but we ate breakfast 1 morning at POFQ, and walked around the resort, and the only thing that they did in the food court was change it to resemble the food court at Riverside. There are 3 or 4 different areas now to choose what you want, you get your food, and pay for it at one of the cashiers. Other then that I really didn't notice any changes form last Sept.

We only visited one day from PO-R.(the second day it was reopened. ) We had breakfast there and swam. I thought the food court was great. There were 4-5 food areas, a cold deli section, barrells with cold drinks, etc.. then the cashiers. They passed out free mardi gras beads to the kids. The pool area was fun and the landscaping gorgeous. We showered in the pool house and found it very clean and spacious. We both agreed we would stay here over PO-R another time. We just thought the theming was more festive and geared to younger children.

Just bumping this up again to see if anyone else has returned lately. I'm really glad they changed the food court. The old way often lead to much longer lines while people tried to decide what to order and then wait for the food. I wish they had done some work on the rooms, themselves, though. So, I'm anxious to hear of anyone else's report on the condition of the rooms.

We will be at the FQ June 13 - June 19. I will try to post my initial impressions to the DIS during our stay.

It sounds like they changed the food court back to the way it was originally. We stayed there for the first time in 1992, and they had the different food stations and you paid after you got your food. I'm not sure why they ever changed it to a system where you placed your order at one place and waited, just like you do in the parks. I prefer the original way much better so that I can look at the food and decide what I want. I'm glad it's back.

Just a note about FQ - We stayed there for 3 nights June 3-6. We spent 7 days at ASMU first, where we have stayed before and everyone liked this resort. I love to visit different resorts and that is why we split our stay. Air conditioning seemed to work everywhere during our stay. Stayed in building 3 as suggested at checkin. I requested building 5 and because we had driven to FL, the rep thought 3 would be more convenient for luggage and not a far walk from the pool, etc. It was more convenient for our luggage (we had a lot) and the walk was not far. Our room did not have a new paint job, and the walls were scuffed, but nothing outrageous. The room was fine, but comparable to ASMU except for themeing. I talked with others at the pool, and someone who said they came often to FQ stated that building 1 had been completely repainted inside and out, and that most of the buildings appeared to be repainted on the outside. We enjoyed the pool area. The slide was a little tame for the 12 year old but still had a good time with it. Kids of all ages were using it as well as parents. Only complaint was that they closed it down around 10 pm - just the slide, the rest of the pool was open til midnight. It was definitely quieter than ASMU. My kids still seemed to enjoy the hustle and bustle. I would stay there again.
Food court was fine. Never did make it on the boat ride to POR or DD. Maybe next time. My question: Why isn't there any mosquitoes at Disney?

Bballmom. Thanks for your post. I will be there in 4 days. My question is why did they want you to take building 3? I have also requested building 5. I would like to be right next to the pool. We did pay extra for water veiw. Did you like building 3? How was the transportation? Was the pool bar open? thanks...corvair

Corvair, have a wonderful time! I hope when you come home
you can update all of us that would like to know about POFQ.
My Family and I will be staying there 4/2003 so I'm real interested
in what you think about this resort. Have you stayed in other
resorts? If so, which ones?
Anyway, Have a wonderful time!
