Any more BWV bed bugs

Every since I read the report about the bedbugs at Boardwalk, I have been to afraid to try this resort. Now we are thinking about it again and I wonder if there have been any more problems with bedbugs there - or anything else for that matter. Also we want to spend a couple of nights in Savannah, Ga in a historic inn - does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

We just returned from 11 nights at BWV - in 2 rooms - no bed bugs!!! I'm glad I didn't read about this prior to my trip though! Can't help you about GA!

Bed bugs were only a problem in rooms near the elevator. Those that tried to migrate to other rooms died of exhaustion crawling down the long hallway.

There was a long thread on them when someone found them staying at the BW a while back. They're tiny but you can see blood spots on the mattress and they hide out in the edge where the binding attaches around the sides of the mattress. The scary thing is that you can bring them home with you and they are VERY hard to get rid of. I've been freaking out ever since I read that thread (and the fact that my brother and SIL had some in their room - offsite but nice hotel) and I have been nervous about whether Disney got rid of them or not since it is such a major project.

A little off topic, but frankly I would never let a comment on this board influence my choice of DVC stays. I enjoy reading all the reports, good and bad, but realize that they represent a tiny fraction of all the stays.

I guess it always bothers me when somebody is scared off of a DVC resort by a few reports. To me, they're all first class and will undoubtedly have some glitches but sure beat the heck out of staying off site!

Doesn't bother me - I love the BWV and if someone elects not to stay there for whatever the resaon(s), it just means less competiton for me!

LOL :teeth:

Before anyone makes a BWV reservation, he/she should be sure to review all the REASONS NOT TO STAY AT THE BWV. :teeth: LOL

Seriously, there are bad reports about every resort. If you let them deter you, you might as well just stay home!

Im not saying there weren't bed bugs - just that if the guest reported it, I'm positive Disney did everything possible to get rid of them. I'm sure any Disney resort with a problem like that would do the same.

Can't wait for our next trip to BWV - only a few more weeks!

Best wishes -

If you are afraid to stay at a WDW resort because of bedbugs - then you should be afraid to stay anywhere - even your own home!

Which is my way of saying - if there was a big problem there - we would certainly be hearing about it. So forget it and move on!

..... sounds like I should probably bring my own bedbugs.

Heck live it up, bring some really HUGE roaches and a couple of rats. I plan to bring and release my Kimodo Dragon when I'm there in January.

no need to worry people we got a picture of their leader and he's not bad looking

Ok you guys have had enough fun now - stop poking fun at me! I especially like the one about the halls being too long for them to run down.

Truthfully, I'm terrified of such things because a friend brought them home from a hotel one time and had to rip out all his carpets, throw out mattresses and furniture and tear out all the base boards too. They are really hard to get rid of and since I didn't hear of any major "renovations" to rooms there, I thought there still might be a problem. Then as some of you pointed out, we would have heard of it by now. I don't mind a bad view or a little noise or something not working quite right in the room BUT bedbugs - No way!!

Anyway - I'm taking the chance - I'll do a little inspection when I arrive and then I'm going to forget about it and have a good time. Thanks for the laughs anyway.

I was there from 10-24 to 10-28. I had a party of 18 in 7 different rooms. Not one single report of a bug from any of my guests!---Relax!

...if you're really concerned about bedbugs, just apply Havoline or Quakerstate 10w-30 every night before bed. If you're going to be there during the summer months, you may want to go to a 15w-40 weight as it's higher viscosity will not break down as easily in the heat.

That would be perfume to my husband - he's a mechanic!! Thanks for the laugh.
