Any MISTAKES made on past trips?

No seriously????? Does anyone like that ride? Anyone??

We have never had a problem with the attraction since it's conception.... With children, grandchildren and now as senior citizens... The signage is adequate to state is a dark attraction...we prepared our children before hand, warned them of the interior and gave them the option of attend or not... we never miss a chance to go...

Seriously? I hate that ride! My son completed freaked out on it. We went 3 years ago and there was no warning sign. I would have never taken my son on that horrible ride if there had been a warning posted. Maybe, since then Disney got a clue that they needed to post a warning considering it a traumatizing ride for most small children . You are the first person I have ever met that actually liked the ride and rode it more than once.

Taking my 5 year old on that horrible Stitch ride. When the lights went out and Stitch was"running around the room" my son became hysterical. I was yelling "It's not real,"It's not real" at the top of my lungs. I'm sure people thought I was crazy. That was the most horrible experience for my 5 year old. Disney needs to either get rid of that ride or post some kind of child warning. Every single mom I know remembers the Stitch ride has horrible memories of it. I have never met one person that liked that ride!

You mean like this one:

I had to blow it up to 200% and even then it was rather fuzzy, but next to the exclamation point it says:

"This Attraction may be frightening for young Children due to its "scary" content."

And I'm pretty sure they've always had a warning sign. The site I got the above picture from has a 2013 copyright on it, but I also found this one from 2004 (which is the year the attraction debuted):

And while I wouldn't call it a favorite or a must-do, I happen to like it.

I took my MiL once. Can that count as a mistake? :)

And I loved the Alien attraction...hate Stitch. And do believe it's misplaced. Put Alien in HS and it's a home run.

The biggest mistake I can think of from our last trip is only having one handheld fan to share between two people! It was a lifesaver to have it at all, but next time each of us is getting our own!

Big big big mistake x2

1st trip was all adults...some people were more interested in partying and their football pools than touring Disney.

2nd trip two people from 1st trip and all our families- 11 in all... This time the same person still partying like a rockstar, his wife took two hours every morning to get ready... We arrived at the parks late everyday except when he has a surprise for his wife...he whined we waiting in line for Tinkerbell with our kids, DD was only 3.5. Everything was around him and not the kids. Most miserable trip ever!:furious:

I'm not saying traveling with others is bad but set some ground rules first and don't let the others guilt you into staying together all day....

Not buying the "Mine, Mine, Mine" tote bag when I saw it back in 2010. Saw the mugs and t-shirts with that saying, on subsequent trips, but never saw the the tote bag again anywhere...:(

Took a family trip, us and the 3 kiddies (25, 30 & 33). It was the first they've been to DHS since Expedition Everest. DH and I had gone on previously - once was enough for me - I don't like heights and that climb up? Well, like I said, once is enough.

DH - his back had been giving him trouble, so he decided to join me at It's Tough to be a Bug while they went on EE. Well, when the bugs started attacking
...the bees started swarming/stinging and as one got him in the back...he jerked...jerked hard - almost dropped to the floor! We were lucky he was able to walk out (rather than having to crawl out). We really were enjoying it up to that point, and I thought the show is really well done. Who would have thought it would have been better for his back to have gone on EE:confused3

I can also see how this could terrify some children...and even some adults.

So yeah...they are lacking some warnings.

WAIT FOR THINGS? DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!? But in all seriousness, you would think people are surprised that Disney is a popular resort destination. Like they're the only ones who ever saw or were inspired by the Mouse and his entourage.

Wait! The tourists found out about Disney World!?!?!?

This is our #1 rule for disney! We don't go with friends or family. Hehe. We have had some tough trips with others, we tour disney OUR way. However We went went with my mother last time but she had never been, i forwarded her our itinerary of day to day activities and times and said this is what we're doing and when we need to be ready each day, also said here is the bus stop and you can leave the park whenever your ready.... We also stayed an addition week after she left which Worked great!

I had the exact same experience with my 5 year old!!

He will be 7 our upcoming trip and has already made it clear he will not be gettin on that ride.

Our biggest mistake has been packing too much. We never wear all those clothes.

This has been a very helpful thread! Was planning on going with extended family our next family trip and seeing how badly it worked out for many I will just say NO! My number one regret last time was not spending more time in hot September in our hotel pool with my DD5 and DH. We crammed too much park time into a short stay I recommend at least 7-10 day stay at the minimum with little ones.

My biggst mistake was with videotaping and recording of the Disney parades and shows. Looking back, and now that the kids are older, I wish I would have filmed my children's faces more and their reactions rather then filing the acual event.

This is what I've found good traveling anywhere with friends and family.
I intend to say... We are going to xyz park and leaving at -- whatever time. Let's meet up for lunch or a particular ride or something.
Not that I expect trouble with the family we are going with but best to be prepared.

Just got back from an excruciating trip. Mistakes included:

1. Going with too many people. As many have stated above, everyone has a different pace, different interests and personalities that can ruin a trip for all. I wanted to get on rides and see as much of the park as possible while they walked around super slowly looking for Starbucks, places to just sit and picture moments. Next trip will be kept much smaller, with NO extended family. This not only ruined the trip, but made all the relationships strained. Although most say, split up into smaller groups, the BF's family was very anti-splitting up.

2. Not having day breaks between park visits. We went HARD for 5 days straight and my feet and body were in pain and beyond sore by the end of the trip. Although I wore comfy sneakers and prepped as much as possible. I don't think a mid-day trip would've worked, especially since it took so long to get everyone out of the house we rented, but at least having a 1 to 2 day break in between where we get to relax at the pool would have helped.

3. Going in the rainy season. It rained, downpours, for 4 out of the 5 days. And I don't mean 30 minute downpours, I mean 4-5 hour downpours. Ponchos became uncomfortable and we were all wet dogs by the time the sky semi-cleared. Some rides were also shut down. Next trip will be in the late fall or early spring.

4. Not staying at the resort. While it was much more economical to stay offsite, it was also inconvenient. All the money you 'saved' staying at a rental home, you used up on the rental car and food shopping.

Although this all sounds pretty negative, I tried to make the most of it and enjoyed some moments. The ones where the BF and I disappeared off on our own (which weren't many) were wonderful as we were able to explore the park and get on rides at our pace, without a ton of opinions and without being forced to stay with the group. Yeah, forced. Because if we didn't, we got yelled at. :worried:

At least I have my next trip to look forward to. :confused3

Purchased Park Hopper passes with no expiration date ($$$). Arrive at EPCOT extra early to be at the front of line for opening. Standing in line for about 45 minutes and as opening time approaches, I go to retreive our tickets and can't find them. Then I remember I left them back at the hotel room. Offsite. Not anywhere near Walt Disney World. I am having a mental meltdown as I quickly go through my options. My best effort getting back to the car, driving to and from, and back to the entrance would result in a huge loss of time and allow massive numbers of guests to be ahead of us. Maybe I can plead my case to the attendant at the turnstyle promising to come back that evening with the tickets if they just let us in. Yeah right. That is not going to happen. So instead it is off to stand in the line to purchase another round of tickets ($$$) as opening is imminent. Made it back to the turnstyles about five minutes after opening.

The good news is we now have extra tickets for a future visit!
