Any Military Dis'ers in the Va Beach area?

This may be a long shot but I'm trying to find out some info about a housing area in the Little Creek area, Gela Point. I'm posting on all the boards I participate on to try and gather all the info I can before we make a decision as to accept or decline. Any info anyone has on schools, crime rates, the Gela Point housing units, traffic between there and Norfolk would be great! TIA

I am close. All I an say is traffic is a nightmare anywhere out towards that way We live more towards the air force base here. BUT go out there way quite a bit. I think you for sure have to watch where you live in Norfolk http://dailypress2.com/crime/norfolk/but there are some nice surrounding area.

There is also a military forum here on the DIS. It's a sub board on the community board.

I don't know much about the area down there but don't forget to check out ahrn.com and militarybyowner.com when checking out housing if you aren't living on base.

My husband is stationed at Little Creek, but we don't live in base housing. We live in the City of Chesapeake which is about 20-25 minutes away from the base. If you don't have to live in base housing you may want to do some research on some nicer areas in the surrounding cities. The Hampton Roads area is a really nice place to live, you just have to do your research of what area to live in. Hope this helps!
