This will be our fifth trip since 10/05 (10/05-conference Staybridge Suites I-Drive, 10/06-POFQ, 1/07-marathon ASMu, 8/07-POFQ) and we will be doing the marathon this year. Priced out POP and all options including one day with the deluxe dining and all days with the regular dining. Three nights with reg dining comes to about $650. I can stay at the Vistana for four night for $169 plus $100 back (no doubt a 90 minute presentation). Tell me this might be an OK plan. I hear horror stroies about the traffic at 4:30. We would be out by 3:45 both days (DH does goofy) and think the offsite option might be an option??? What are others doing?

We stay onsite, but my FIL stayed offsite last year and had no problem driving in as a spectator. I can't speak for participants, though. Check the WISH 2008 Marathon roster thread -- it has where people are staying in the first post. Good luck!

I may be staying at my brothers house---he lives by the airport..and it is FREE.

Minusses--not onsite, must transport myself, might miss the hooplah! have to carry my keys.

Plusses--don't have to worry about catching a bus, can sleep later, if it is cold I can keep warm in the car, I can sleep in the car, I can leave after the finish when I want to, I can have a full change of clothes in the car.

I think for us it is worth saving $400+.

There is traffic, but plan accordingly and you should be okay. There will be more traffic closer to the start.
