Any major differences between 1500/2000 and preferred sites?

We have a partial site booked to tent camp and we are thinking of changing to a preferred site for the location to the settlement because we will not have bikes or a golf cart. I'm just wondering if there are any major differences between partial sites and preferred sites besides location?

Besides the location of each loop, the Partials (1500/2000) have a bigger coquina (crushed shell) pad for tents versus the size of the Preferred coquina pads and a shorter driveway.

The Preferred sites also are close to the bus stop at the Settlement that will take you to the Wilderness Lodge and all bus points beyond that.

If you can swing the difference in the cost of the Preferred sites versus the Partials then go with the Preferred. I've stayed in the Partials when I am happy to have the lowest cost means of staying at the Fort. But as they say in real estate "location, Location, LOCATION".

The preferred also have sewer hook ups.

We also tent camp and while we have never gotten a preferred site, we do like to drive around in our car and check everything out.

The preferred sites, of course, have there advantages, but from our experience as fellow tent campers, I think that you should also consider how large your set up is.

We have an 8 man tent and a screened awning and have had a hard time fitting on the 1500 loop partial sites. For us, the 2000 loop works best b/c of the larger crushed shell area. The preferred shell area is even smaller. Something to consider.

1500 is within walking distance to the bigger meadows pool area as well as trading post...the bus system gets you where you need to go no matter where you stay
