Any Magic Halloween Cruisers 2003 out there?

We're happy for 2 more to be added to the list for T ot T. I've ordered treats but won't be making the bags up till we're on board as they will be easier to transport like that.

Laurenk - we were at WDW just before our cruise last year and found that it got a little cool some evenings when we needed long sleeves. I don't remember needing them on the cruise, except in some of the restaurants where the air conditioning was a bit fierce sometimes.

Karen

Perhaps my family was the last, but we received our documents yesterday from the friendly, UPS man. I'm a bit concerned with our flight arrangements too. It appears we'll be comming in on a Delta flight a 8:45 to Orlando. Doesn't the ship not let you board till 1:00? Will the bus take us to port 4 hours early? Who knows?

Also, since this is our first Halloween cruise, I noticed a paper regarding some extra activities in the documents for custumes. Do the adults really participate in these? Are these pretty much around the clock custumed events?

Sandra

Linda,

Don't worry; we will form a line of Dis cruisers holding onto the ropes so they can't sail without you. Seriously, I'm sure if you booked through DCL, they will be aware of your situation and take care to get you aboard.

Our treats have just arrived and now I'm starting to panic. Some of them are fruity, jelly sweets. They are in sealed packs but they are only plastic bags sealed with a sticky tag. They do smell quite "fruity" but in the way that sweets do rather than real fruit. Will we be able to take them into the States or am I going to be pinned to the wall by a sniffer dog and have them confiscated? If so, DH can carry them.

What do you think?

Karen

I havn't made up treats yet either so I don't mind adding 2 more.

Laurenk - Glad you had a great time at Mars2112! I did get your post. To be honest I have yet to see the World Trade Center site. I work in midtown and have not yet been able to get myself prepared to see the destruction. I don't know if I ever will.

On a lighter note, did everyone get paperwork regarding costumes on the ship? Nothing like that came with my documents.:(

Doucia: Welcome aboard!

I have no problem adding two more to the TorT list, as I was aready preparing for 41 anyway.

LAUREN: yes we packed tank tops last year. It was EXTREMELY HOT in key west, as well as cozumel and cayman. However, on board the ship in can be COLD in the resturants and especially the movie theater. As far as WDW after, you never know what the temps will be in FLA for Oct and Nov. Two years ago we camped at FW for Halloween week and the temps got down into the high 30's - low 40's at night. We were freezing:rolleyes: So my suggestion to you would be to pack a whole assortment of clothing. Thats what I do!:p :p :p :p

KAREN: Try putting the candies into ziplock bags, you may have to double the bags. Also, I responded to a post you had on another thread concerning the teen excursion. Let me know if your daughter is planning on doing that excursion.

Have a great day everyone.
Dena:p

Thanks Dena, good idea. I will ask Emma about the Teen excursion and let you know. She didn't really enjoy Common Grounds last year but maybe if there were a few people she had met earlier in the week going, she might be up for it. I may wait to book on board to see how things are going especially as last year it was cancelled due to low numbers - mind you we did get our money back.

I agree the more the merrier, I have treat bags but also have just candy to hand out. How about at least 1 week prior lets try and get a list so we know what to buy and pack and remember to print it out  that is my fear :)

Linda - Like everyone else mentioned, I'm sure you'll be fine with the times. As for your luggage - it's my understanding that you don't have to worry about it (we didn't on our first cruise). Disney will collect it for you and have it delivered to your stateroom.

Doucia - Welcome aboard. We're glad to recruit some more cruisers. How old are your children?

Ginger - I'm okay with the extra children for TOT as well. I had extra goodies for each age group that I split the kids into.

Strissel - No extra Halloween info here. I DO HOPE SOME OF YOU ARE PLANNING ON DRESSING UP! I already bought my costume and am just waiting for it to arrive.

Karen - I don't think the candies will be a big problem. The double ziploc sounds like a good idea. I'm sending all my goodies down with my aunt - she is driving (not cruising with us) so she has extra room. If you want to send the candies to me I can pack them with my stuff in her van.

laurenk - I agree with the overwhelming packing. I have yet to start because I am between houses and have to spend a day at the storage unit finding things.

Hey Dena and Karen - Don't forget, Common Grounds is not Common Grounds anymore! I am keeping my figures crossed that they will enjoy their time in the new teen club. Knowing Disney, I am sure they are doing a great job and making a really cool place!

Karen - I agree about double zip-locking your candies -
Our airports don't have the dog sniffers like the ones I encountered in Heathrow - I must say, my first trip to England, I was really thrown aback when I first saw them!

So when is the cut-off going to be? - Not too close to departing date please - I still have yet to make the bags, but will be doing as soon as my current order arrives -

? - Do you think it will be a problem if I pack the same stuff for each age group - I bought candie that I am sure all the kids could eat plus some fun things that I know they could all do - It just sounds like some of you are Martha Stewarts out there - that's hard on us common folk!!!

I booked my parasailing at CC - My older daughter and I are going to do it - Very excited!!!

Karen

No info in my docs about costumes either. I booked mine thru DVC, so who knows! I sort of feel like a stepchild because of booking thru DVC. Couldn't pre-pay the tips, and really got the run around when booking the excursions. Oh well, the important part is the trip with my family!

Not really a problem with adding on extra children, but if you'll notice Doucia's post, it looks like more than just 2 children will be added. Any word yet on how many more? (Looks like maybe 4 more.)

Just 3 more weeks from Friday, and we'll be departing for Florida. Can't wait!
:bounce:

Dose anyone know how the parasailing works. I know that my DS will have to go with an adult my question is this do they charge you twice becouse two pepole argoing up or do they charge you once becouse it is only on trip up?
Thanks.

We did get a short letter in with our cruise documents mentioning about bringing coostumes and that there would activities and such. My wife liked the list of selections for best costume, group, etc ....

Anyone don't have this letter and want to see it I can e-mail it to them. I have it scanned in as I had to e-mail it to my wife last week. Just PM and let me know where to e-mail it.

I did get a paper about Halloween in my documents. There wasn't much on ther, paulmc80 pretty much sums it up.

NADTWINS- I believe they charge you each time you go up. We are parasailing in Key West since it is half the price, and my DH will have to go up twice. Now, if I can only find the info. about the Key West parasailing so I can book it.

laurenk,
Please keep me posted about the info you find out about Key West parasailing. Thank you!

KEH, Karen could you mail your goodies? You could mail them to the resort you are staying at, at WDW. I am sure they will hold it for you sicne you have reservation.

I sent Doucia a PM asking her how many children and their ages but haven't gotten a reply.

Karen our cut off date was Sept 21, but since Doucia asked I could not say yes or no till I asked everyone.

Karen: If you think they would get here on time, you could mail your TorT goodies to me and I would be more than happy to bring them on board. Since we are only 1 hour from the port, we do not have to fly anywhere or drive far. Let me know and I will pm you my address.

Dena

Oh, I wasn't complaining about adding more, - I just don't want to be stressing out at the last minute with more to do -

But to avoid all that, I will probably bring extra just in case -

Here is a question for all of you repeat cruisers - What did you do last year when other cruisers saw you trick or treating and wanted to join in? What was your polite answer? Just curious -

Karen

NADTWINS- The website is furycat.com. We are taking our twins parasailing in Key West because it is their 10th birthday that day....well, actually my DH and DD are taking them, I will be the official photographer;)

Karen in the past we have never had others ask us to join in. If that did happen we would have to say, Sorry, this is a private event.

My husband just asked me how many of the older T-or-T'ers are really going to go on the T-or-T? He was saying that once they get aboard and meet people their own ages, are they going to want to hang with the little kids?

GINGER: I can only speak for my older kids and they still always go T-or-Ting.:p My oldest DS doesnt care for going to common grounds. And he is not really that outgoing that he would meet friends on his own.
