Any Magic Halloween Cruisers 2003 out there?

Hello everyone! Paul and I just got back from vacation. We flew out to Anaheim, California. Hubby from Hawaii and me from Georgia. My plane was about a hour and a half late from St. Louis. Mechanical problems with the radar. It was great to see DH sitting outside the Howard Johnson's waiting for me though.

Disneyland was wonderful! I bet the longest wait we had for a ride was ten minutes. I could not believe how uncrowded the parks were while we were there. We got there on Memorial Day. Friday and Saturday were probably the most crowded days. Oh by the way they kicked off their annual Soapfest and guess what DH and I got to sit in on a taping of Soap Talk. We both got pretty toasted from the sun, but man it was worth it. Got to see up close and personal some of my favorite soap opera stars (From All My Children and One Life to Live.)

Universal and Knotts Berry Farm was excellent too. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary. Happy Fifth for us.

Happy Anniversary Kaye and Paul!
Five years!!! My word! How time does fly!
Hopefully you will get reassigned soon and be with Paul permanently - imagine that being married and actually living in the same house TOGETHER!
But until then, I hope you know that we do appreciate the job you are doing with the US Military and the sacrifices you are making to keep us strong, safe and FREE!

Haven't been to Disneyland since the early 1970's!!! Bet it's changed a lot. I love Knotts Berry Farm - especially the delicious jellies!!! (Last year for Christmas I ended up with two HUGE sets of Knotts Jelly!)

Rae:

Thanks for the post. Knott's Berry Farms was awesome. The funny thing is Paul and I didn't catch any of the rides. I had too much fun just checking out all the shops. Oh give me an excuse to shop! Paul said that Knott's Berry Farms had changed the last time he was there. We did manage to try some of the famous chicken. Had some Boysenberry punch. YUM.. :sunny:

Happy Birthday, dzneprincess!

Happy Anniversary, Kaye and Paul!

It is a beautiful, partly cloudy, 78 degree day here in Middle Tennessee. DS has been outside playing and will probably need to go out again later.

I have a lot to do but I am just taking it easy right now. I had to work Saturday and we took a quick trip to Georgia on Friday. I am pretty tired. I think maybe a nap is order.

Ginger: We plan to stay at the Radisson the night before the cruise but we have not made reservations yet. We do want to participate in the T or Ting this trip. We are in stateroom #2084. Right now we just plan to pass out goodies. We still have not decided if DS will be collecting goodies. Maybe next cruise.

Have a great day!

Happy anniversary Kaye and Paul!:D

Happy Birthday Dzneprincess!:D

It it sunny and HOT here. In the low 90's for a few days now. but I am not complaining yet.:p I LOVE the beginning of the heat. It won't start to bother me until the end of Aug.

I know that we will be going to MNNSHP, but I am not sure when. I think we are going to try and do it earlier in October and not so close to the cruise.

I hope everyone has a great Monday.:D

Heat?
What heat?

It's still in the 60's here and we are wearing long sleeves and sweatshirts! June 1 and still in winter clothing!
In fact, I'm shivering already!!!!

 Hello! My family is sailing on our first Disney cruise this coming Halloween 2003. We are so excited. My DH and I will have our two kids with us, a DD age 8 and DS age 4.

Wow, do I have alot of reading to do to try to get up to speed on what to expect and how to prepare for this cruise. Thank you so much to all of you veteran cruisers who are so generous and willing to share your experiences and advice.

I'm looking forward to checking this board and thread often to get to know you all better and to learn as much as I can! October can't get here fast enough for us! :)

Welcome Zito family :-) I too will have a 4 yr old DS sailing on our trip :-) HIs name is Max. What is your sons name?

Welcome Zitofamily - I'll add your family to our ever growing list of cruisers! I'll be with my Mom (75) and son (8) this trip and we are looking forward to meeting you.
If you get a map of the ship, we will be at the Promenade Lounge right after the Mustering and for a short time only since the Sail Away Party is at 5!

Welcome aboard!

Rae

Hi All-

I have been lurking with not much time for posting. Had Cade's 2nd birthday party Saturday and last night he screamed all night and all day, seems to have a flu/cold thing going on. My 5 year old DS seems out of sorts too so I think he is getting it too :(. I am finally recovering from surgery ;) .

My anniversary is tomorrow, yeah (8 years):p and my birthday is Saturday. Busy few weeks we have had. Hope everyone is doing well. Happy B. Day DP and welcome all newcomers.

Tiff

Rae and dzneprincess:

Thank you for your warm welcome. I have sent pm's to both of you. At least I think I have. The workings of this board are still new to me so I hope I did it right.

Rae, where are you from in New York? My husband is from Batavia. Do you know where that is?

I just pop in every once in a while -

I was just wondering if any one in this thread has a 5 year old princess that might want to meet another 5 year old princess on board? Or even before hand - They can send emails to each other before the cruise (with Queen Mom typing the words)

OH!!!! You match makers LOL.

Welcome Zitofamily!

Poohbrush: Wasn't it a beautiful day today? I had to work:mad: but I did get almost 4 hours on the road to enjoy it. Now if my garden would dry out a little I could finish planting.
We joined the DVC on the ship too and signed our 2nd contract for 50 more points last year while on the ship, total of 250.

Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to all that are having one, sorry limited on time here tonight.

Tiff you all have had your problems with illness so far this year, get it all out of the way now so you'll all be better to enjoy the cruise. In fact let's all get it done and over with before we cruise. Nothing worse than being sick on your vacation. We've met the hosipital staff before aboard the Magic, nice people but I don't care to meet them again if you know what I mean.

Hey folks help me out a little with the T-or-T I need names, ages and stateroom numbers.
Also need to know if your stateroom will be one that the T-or-Ter's can visit. Don't worry if you thank know one we be there we'll give you time to run ahead to answer your door. LOL Thanks

I'll be talking to Ray in a few weeks about this years Halloween Tee Shirts so I will post the detail about that.

You all have a great day tomorrow, hopefully I'll have the day off. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Ginger-

How do you upgrade at port? Sounds interesting!

Rae519-

I read your post about the gathering at the Promenade deck after the mustering. What exactly is the mustering? My family is new to cruising and apparently we have a lot to learn.

Zitofamily-

Glad to see you on these boards. My DD is very excited to email your daughter. Right now she is with my DH at the gym. I will have her email your DD tomorrow.

Hope everybody is enjoying this "wonderful" weather. I can't believe that it is June 3. Is it ever going to get hot?

Evening everyone!

Carole 88, I can answer that one for you, The mustering Rae is referring to, is the lifeboat drill. No way around this one, everyone's gotta go! :o At about 4pm, you grab your life jacket from your cabin, and proceed to your muster station. And they're strict too, they check off cabin numbers. It's a real pain in the neck, and very uncomfortable, but good practice I guess.

Ginger, today was just gorgeous! Too bad we can't have more days like this. They're calling for more rain this week!

Welcome Zitofamily! You will just love this cruise! It's so much fun!

Tiff, Happy Birthday & Anniversary! I'm sending good thoughts (and get well wishes) your way.

Bye for now!

Since we are talking about T and T on the cruise, this is probably a dumb question but here goes..........are costumes mandatory? I'd love to have my kids dress up and us parents too but am worried about suitcase space. I don't really want to pack a whole extra suitcase just for costumes, or is this something I really should do?

Speaking of suitcases and room.... how much storage space is in the cabins to store suitcases and such? For a family of four, what would be a reasonable amount of luggage so we aren't tripping over it in our room?

Also, while I'm thinking about it. What is that fourth bed like that folds down from the ceiling? Is it safe for little ones to sleep on? I can't remember where I saw it but some website had a picture of it. It looks kind of high and scary to me! I really don't want me or my husband to have to sleep up there for the whole cruise - because my 8 year old or 4 year old could fall out -LOL!

I must say I am very impressed with how many of you have taken so many Disney cruises. They must be really good. We don't have a travel budget that will allow a cruise every year but I can tell already that this Disney cruise may be our first but won't be our last.

Hi Carole88:

My daugher is looking forward to hearing from your daughter. I think it will be fun for our girls to get to know each other before cruising. Gives us one more thing to look forward too - meeting a pen pal in person. I hope they hit it off. At least they have one thing in common already - it's the first Disney cruise for both our families! Isn't this board just awesome? I feel so blessed to have stumbled across it and all the wonderful people on it!

You can upgrade at the port if the ship is not full, which it usually isn't for our cruising date. One more reason to cruise during Halloween week. The cost to upgrades depends on which cat. your upgrading from if your in a cat. 9 or better the cost is alot less than trying to upgrade from a cat. 8 or below. Last year we were in a Cat. 10 and it would have been over $1000. for us to upgrade to a 5. , but if we would have been in a Cat. 9. we could have upgrade to a Cat. 4. for about $375.. As far as cruising yearly, well it can be affordable if you book your cruises very early and don't need to be in an upper catagory. Rebooking on the ship can save you big$$$$$'s.
Suitcases we are a family of 3 and take 5 peices along a duffle bag to hold our snorkling equipment and shoes and 4 suitcases for our clothes, 1 of those suitcases does hold DH's 2 cases of beer and my blender with colada mixes and stuff.

Oh!!!! got to go running to see Finding Nemo comps of The Disney Store. I'll be back to finish this soon.
