I am curious if it is worth while to fax room preferences. I have seen "Deb's" guide on faxing room preferences (http://www.wdwig.com/cro1.htm). I am just curious if most of you have had luck with this. I am not wanting much - mainly just to request a ground floor room in one of several buildings (not particular - just "close" to the main building). Is there any advice not included in the "guide" that needs to be utilized?

Thanks

We used to fax but found just asking at check in got us our requests. They will do what they can and sometimes you get a little magic. I imagine you shouldn't have a problem with that request.

100% agree with safetymom.....

We have always had our requests granted however I do think it it works better to inquire at check-in. Last year we faxed AKL and requested Zebra Trail, 4th Floor overlooking Arusha Rock savannah and when we got there, they had us on Kudu trail.... I asked politely if there would be any way we could get Zebra Trail and sure enough we got our room.

I've never faxed and never had a problem having my requests met. I don't usually ask for a whole lot, mainly no smoking and if I'm at POR I ask for the Bayou.

The CM's at check in will do there best to meet your requests. I think it has more to do with what time you check in than anything. I have found that if we check in morning or early afternoon you tend to get a better shot at meeting more of your requests (especially if they are very specific).

The more full the hotel is, the harder the time they will have meeting all of your requests, it is important to make sure they are noted on your reservation, apparently now they will ask you to prioritize them also, so they can at least try to meet you most important ones.

Based on some things I've read elsewhere, I've gotten the impression that so many people fax now that you'd do just as well asking on check-in.

Hi. I've recently read (I think on another board) that it is best NOT to fax in advance. This has become widespread and is frowned upon. Whomever wrote what I read was a CM and had some inside info. It might work for you but it might also backfire if the room assignor is irritated by and INUNDATEDwith requests. I believe that the preferred way to make requests is to ask at the time of booking (or add later) and have it put on your reservation.
Good luck!

If you told the CM what you wanted when you booked, you have a good chance of getting them. They put a code on your Ressie for the Room Assigner. Double check when you are checking in.
It hasalso been my experience they will make every effort to move you if you are not happy with your assigned room so do not be afraid to ask.

I actually booked through a travel agent who went through "Go-Go Travel". So I'm not sure who I would contact with a preference - that's why I was just going to fax it.

I think you will have to contact your TA and ask them

I faxed my room request--very politely--for AKL a week ago. I apologized for having to handwrite it (we were already on our trip). I request Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah View, bunkbeds, NS, with a room number of X503 or better. I asked for 3rd floor as a first preference, and 4th as the second. I assured them that except for the medically necessary NonSmoking I knew everything else was not guaranteed.

They had our requests right there, entered in the system, and all had been granted in a preassigned room except we were on the 4th floor.

I was glad I faxed it in.

When I make our reservations (Poly) I always request:
Non-smoking and Third Floor with Balcony

I've always gotten my requests. I've never requested a specific longhouse or room # however this year I added to my requests: Fiji Longhouse.

I mainly just did it out of curiosity - to see if I actually get it. ;)
We shall see.

Debbie

Yes, I am a believer. I have just returned from a 1 week stay at the BWI and a 1 day stay at the AKL. I faxed a request for the Inn -- nice view, prefereably the highest available floor with a view of the Epcot fireworks. The room was not assigned when I checked in, but the request was in the system. Robin, the cast member that checked me in, bent over backwards to see that my request was met. I was assigned room 5282 and could not have asked for a better view.

At AKL, I did not fax a request but requested the Arusha Savanna, Zebra trail when I checked-in around 1PM. The rooms had been pre-assigned at the AKL and I had been assigned a room on another Savanna. The cast member who helped me seemed a bit put out, but was able to move me to the Arusha Savanna (although not the Zebra Trail side). Had I been staying longer than one night, I wonder if I would have even gotten that.

This was the first trip that I faxed a room request, specifically because we were going to POR and I did not want to stay in a bayou room (we're from Missouri, so the theming of AB was a little too close to home!) I requested Magnolia Terrace as recommended from fellow DIS-ers (a non-smoking building in the Mansions section). We received a lower level room with a view of the gazebo and the Sassagoula River! Exactly what we wanted!! Good luck!:bounce:
