We are thinking of going for a day the last day of August. I don't think I could bear the heat there but my son really wants to go and he would be happy at the LEGOLAND waterpark. We would probably do a few rides in the regular park and then walk over to the waterpark (I am assuming we can do this?) Do they run specials on tickets that include the water park? Any suggestions? Thank you

For starters there is alot of deals and coupons right now for Buy an adult and get a kid free.. Amazon Local are running this right now ..adult and kid $86 total for both. You can add the waterpark on at the gate for another $15 extra per adult..less for kids ( cant remember sorry). It is going to be hot in August yes but there are places you can go in and get cool. Just remember to keep going in shops or interactive places and get a blast of AC to keep cool. There are also cool water rides in the park itself to keep cool with. I think you will be fine :)

We went for a day the last week of August last year. No lie - it was so hot it was almost unbearable (and I'm usually pretty good with the heat). We got buy one adult, get a kid ticket free from the Lego newsletter. Because of the heat, we added on the extra cost of the waterpark. It was ok, kind of small but my kids enjoyed it (especially the lazy river with the foam lego blocks). My kids enjoyed the day because they love anything Lego but I would not do it again on such a hot (over 95 degrees) day. Too many of the attractions are completely exposed to the sun (like the little cars, etc) and you just bake sitting in the sun, waiting for the ride to get going.

And yes, you can access the water park from the main park (I think it's the only way to get in). There is a path to follow at the back of the park and you can pay for tickets there and just head in. The water park has some slides, a lazy river, a wave pool (the water is so warm it is not really refreshing) and a climbing structure with one of those big buckets that dumps every 5 minutes or so. There are also some baby areas but we didn't use them so I can't comment.

The water park is at the back of the regular park so you have to walk through the whole thing to get to the water park. There do seem to be deals through the Lego magazine, certain small packs of Legos, sometimes McDonalds and even sites like Living Social or Groupon. Just keep your eyes out and you'll find something.

We went the last week of August last year, and yes, it was very, very, very hot. But the park was absolutely empty!! I mean my husband and I were looking at one another as we walked from the shuttle to the gate, wondering if there was something wrong! My kids literally walked onto every single ride in the park! I think the longest they waited for anything was 5 minutes. They had the run of the place!

The water park was definitely a nice break in the heat, though.

We were there last week. I know it's not Aug but I can tell you it was HOT in that park. I ended up w sun poisoning and that was after spending the last 7 days at DW and US. We had thoroughly enjoyed Legoland in CA last summer and were really looking forward to our visit. I can say my dd 5 who loves all things Lego had a great time. DH and I were greatly underwhelmed. It was hot! Did I mention that? The park was strangly empty except for a few school groups w seriously under chaperoned kids. (Not going to be a problem in Aug) there were like 5 rides closed. The ones that were working were out in sun. The boat driving attraction broke down w us on it. The above named group kept crashing the boats. We were stuck frying in the sun for 15 mins until they could get it working again. Overall the experience was not a good one which was a bummer bc we had really looked forward to the visit! Also the waterpark wasn't open but if you are going in Aug I'd give it a try to hopefully cool you off!!

Thanks everyone for the great advice. We have gone to Disney in Aug/Sept and you can always find somewhere to cool off but being on rides out in the direct sunlight in Aug at LEGOLAND, just doesn't seem like too much fun. We will definitely go to the waterpark when we go.
