Any Laptop Deals?

DOH! I wish I had thought about in-store pickup. The initial laptop was only available online, so it didn't even occur to me to request in-store pickup.

If you call the 888# and ask to speak with someone in the sales dept, maybe they can change it to in-store p/up instead. See if it's available at a store near you first. Good luck!
 
I bought the Toshiba for full price on Black Friday and went in today and got a price adjustment. Everyone we talked to advised us to go with the Toshiba over the Acer. It's for my 10 yr old and seems like it will be the perfect laptop for her.
 
4 people I know who bought Acer after 1 year they are blow out, don't work any more. 1 person bought their Acer had it for 3 days and the mother board went bad. I wanted anything but an Acer!

Dh went to Walmart and bought me a Toshiba Satellite L455D,
15.6 HD screen,
2gb, DDR2 RAM,
250 GB HDD and a
AMD Sempron SI-42

and it is running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

So far it does everything I want it to. Plus some stuff my DD wants to do!!
 

An update on my Best Buy order.

My 'backordered' item turned into a cancelled order. Needless to say I wasn't very happy, especially since the person I talked to at BB never did call me back after he promised to the next day. His mistake was that he gave me his direct number. Once I received the cancellation number, I called and left a voicemail. I wasn’t as angry about the cancelled order as I was that he promised to call me back and didn't even have the nerve to do so prior to receiving the cancellation notice.

Within 10 minutes, I received a callback (from this person) and they offered me another computer that was selling at a higher price as a replacement. After looking at the difference between the two laptops, I was convinced I was getting a laptop that was at least as good if not better than the original I ordered so I went ahead with the offer.

I spoke with so many rude people at BB and I'm not sure if I will ever shop there again but I do appreciate everything that was done for me in the end.

I'm VERY tired of stressing over the laptop so now it's ordered (and shipped) and I can relax about it. :)

Glad it's all working out for you. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my replacement -- I tried to change it to in-store pickup last night, but it was apparently too late to change the order. I just logged in and there's a tracking number, so we're a little closer!
 
I ordered the Toshiba last night thanks to this thread! I was worried because I got an email saying the store was closed, but then this morning I got the pick up notice! :)

They had also cancelled being able to order online with store pick up the last time I saw.
 
I got the emachines from best buy today via UPS...UPS even called last nite to tell me the shipment was coming todday!!!! So far I really like the laptop
 
I picked the Toshiba over the Acer because Consumer Reports had more recommended Toshiba's (although not this model) and did not rec. any Acers. Just a sidenote - the Dec. 09 Consumer Reports really nails emachines as being a poor choice. the young tech guy I work with said the same thing. I know there can be lemons of every single brand - just wanted to throw that info out there because emachines were featured Black Friday several places and are still being featured with really alluring prices. Like I said, you sure can get a lemon, no matter what brand you choose, but I always look to Consumer Reports for some beginning info. Good luck everyone!

Just now arrived today -- DH was home and signed for it -- hidden before DS can see the BestBuy mailing label! :yay:

It sat in CA for 4 days without moving for "adverse weather conditions".
