Any Laptop Deals?

Check back with Circuit City to make sure that you are refunded. I refused a delivery one time (different company), and the package showed in tracking as having been delivered, and the company said they never received the package back. Took forever to straighten out. :headache:

I checked the tracking info about 2 hours later and it said, "THE RECEIVER DID NOT WANT THE ORDER AND REFUSED THIS DELIVERY" on the UPS tracking site.

Well, got the backorder notice a few minutes ago. Sigh. Says 1-2 weeks, so I'll keep the Staples one unopened and return if it shows up. We're going out of town starting 12/18, though, until the 24th, so if it doesn't show by the 11th, I'll cancel the order. Sigh. Guess it was too good to be true! :headache:

I just called, and the rep said they are looking at all the orders and are attempting to fill them as quickly as they can. She said this item is however guaranteed to be delivered by Christmas, but that doesn't help you if you're not going to be home to pick it up. I hope they get this resolved by next week, and you get your order BEFORE the 18th!

This will be a gift from me and dh, not Santa (I'm getting credit on this one!), so if it's late I'll be mad, but it won't ruin Christmas.

Well, got an email that it's not available at all, and they won't get any in.

Just talked to Best Buy customer service. They've offered a replacement -- still the 4GB / 320 GB Hard Drive -- for the same price. She said it's showing in stock, so we'll see. It's a different brand, but has better reviews.

I actually had to go out and buy one tonight as my old one died this morning. Luckily I had been saving and they had a Toshiba at a great price tonight at Best Buy. About $200 less than I had expected to pay.

i hope everyone finds what they need.

Yes I got that email, and I called and ordered the replacement (much better reviews it seems). This time I requested in store pickup, it was available at a store near me, so dh will pick it up today.

Is this a good deal? I just ordered it but am thinking about cancelling the order if it's not a good deal. I forgot to go through bing.com for the cashback, too!! Ugh!

It's on Bestbuy.com, it's the laptop package on the bottom right that's listed as the "deal of the day". For some reason the direct link wasn't working when I tried. I only need it for message boards, facebook, and college type purposes! :rotfl:

I just ordered the Toshiba Satellite 2GB, 250GB Hard Drive, 15.6" Screen, Windows 7 for $299.99. Sale started today. We've been looking for a laptop for DS since before Black Friday. We decided not to go with a netbook for several reasons. The price for a "regular" laptop is the same or better for what you're getting. There is no CD/DVD drive on the netbooks. The netbooks are primarily designed for surfing the Internet and don't run programs that great. Since DS needs this for school use, he has to be able to run the Microsoft Suite efficiently, AND be able to load it! With Bing, I even got $15 cashback! So it was really $284.99! Can't get many netbooks for that!

Sorry--ordered from Best Buy with $0.99 shipping to my house.

I grabbed the Toshiba Satellite notebook at Best Buy for $299 also. If someone needs more power and a web cam - a HP model T4300 with a 15 inch screen, with 3 GB memory and 320 GB hard drive with Windows Premium is on sale at Office Depot for $459, Office Max for $449 and Staples for $479!!

I am curious why everyone ordered the Toshiba instead of the Acer. I was thinking the Acer deal was better, because for $30 more you got an extra GB of memory (3GB instead of 2GB) and you got a free optical mouse and a free laptop bag. Did you guys see somethign I didn't see, that you guys got the Toshiba instead of the Acer?

I totally forgot about the cashback..I HATE when I do that!

No reason for me. I saw the Toshiba in the add in Saturday's paper, looked at it yesterday online, read the reviews, and decided to get it first thing this morning. I didn't do anymore research (that's all I've done since before Thanksgiving!). The Acer does not look like a bad deal though! We don't need a mouse or laptop case (we already have those), but if you do, it is probably the way to go. I am just HAPPY to not have to look at anymore laptops and try to make a decision! FYI--the Acer does have a little smaller hard drive, but that may not matter to many folks.

In my mind, the big drawback with the Toshiba is the processor. While Celeron's are a decent processor, I believe its a single-core design; they run slow if you try to multi-task and are not the best for working with photo/video.

I got what I think is a pretty good deal on an 15" Acer today with an AMD dual-core processor, 3GB RAM and 250GB hard drive. Laptop, so there's a CD/DVD read-write drive, two USB ports plus a digital card slot. Only $379 at Staples.

I picked up the Toshiba too, thanks for the post. I have looking obsessively since BF for the kids and I am just so happy to have my life back! I guess I shouldn't officially reclaim my life back until I have picked it up from my BB store but I am going to think positive thoughts. Now, off to enjoy the Christmas season!

I think it was a good deal! The emachines laptop Walmart sold on BF for 199 is now back on their website for 350.00 and this Acer you got at Best Buy has better specs, plus the mouse and case and cheaper !!! It even has more memory than the Toshiba Best Buy has for 299.00.

I just ordered this one with in-store pick-up after talking to dh. We'll give this one to dd and he will take the other one (with dual processor) that we ordered on Monday, but had to get a relpacement on. He'll pick them both up at Best Buy today, to avoid the backorder problems from before.

His computer is shot and he uses it for work (payroll, email, spreadsheets, powerpoint). Can you say tax deduction :cool1: (on the more expensive one of course). We looked at the specs on his current laptop, which is 5 years old... It's a Toshiba Satellite, 192 MB RAM, 54 GB hard drive, Intel Celeron. It's a good computer, just so slow with all of the programs and software running simultaneously on only 192 MB of RAM! We are not gamers....

I'm thinking about one of the laptops from Best Buy for my mother. She just needs to surf on the internet and print things out on a printer. I don't think I need anything really fancy and $300-$400 is pretty much a "buy price" for me.

ETA: Does anyone know of any deals that include printers? My mom needs a new one too.

I bought the Toshiba for my mom who is 76. She needs it only for e-mail and surfing the internet. It was a better choice for me precisely for the reasons that others don't like it as much. It has no number keypad, no media keys, nothing extra that might be confusing. I think it will be perfect for her.

Dh just picked up both laptops today! Thank goodness! I didn't want to have to deal with another backorder debacle, I'm glad they were available for p/up at a nearby store. Good luck to everyone else going through the Best Buy back order mess.

DOH! I wish I had thought about in-store pickup. The initial laptop was only available online, so it didn't even occur to me to request in-store pickup.
