I get lactose free Cheese, milk and Chocolate milk here...Sometimes Ice cream too...

Will I have none of this on the cruise? Should I bring some?

Please let me know if you have the same problem.

My husband is lactose intolorent too and he didn't have a problem on the any of the 4 cruises we took on the Magic. You can ask for soy milk and make it very clear to your waiter the things you can't eat. My husband had no problem at breakfast and lunch around the pool was fine. He didn't get to eat a lot of desserts though. He mainly had fruit . On our last cruise on the Mariner of the Seas, our waiter brought him an angle food cake with strawberries. He ended up ordering two it was so good. Now that I think about it, the head waiter gave my husband a menu for the next night and he got to pick what he wanted and they made it special just for him. He loved every dinner. Have a great time.

Howdy,
You will have a small frig if you want to bring some stuff, but if you tell them when you book the cruise that will give the kitchen staff notice which really helps. However you can tell them the first night at dinner and they will bend over backwards to help you. You can also e-mail or call the cruise line and ask, they are very helpful that way. we have special needs too and they have always treated us great, and we have been on 5 cruises so far.
Have a magical cruise.

They also have Lactaid milk onboard too. They are very accomodating for any special diet issues.

Great news on the lactose free milk availibility!! :flower: Can anyone tell me if there is vanilla soy milk on board? In particular "Silk", (the brand).????
Thanks!

We were given different brands of soy/rice milk depending upon where we ate. I think it was Pacific. We would use it for breakfast for the cereal and they'd give us the rest of the carton to keep. There was also a blend and rice milk. On the last night at dinner I kept asking our server if they had any frozen dessert and they remembered they had rice dream so my son got an ice cream sundae. I had purposely asked (in person and in writing) the head server upon arrival about special desserts and ice cream alternatives and he wasn't presented with it until the last night. He had jello every night before that but they really made him feel special each night by making a fuss over him (he was 3)

No premade chocolate milk, but they would make it for him with Hershey's syrup each night for dinner. I don't recall any lactose free cheese. They must have lactose free margarine, especially for Kosher purposes, but we never asked.

Glad to hear about the Lacteeze or Lactaid milk. I have never tried the soy or rice milk...

I like the idea of making chocolate milk out of the lacteeze. Never thought of that but will add it to my list.

Anyone else?

Have you tried taking Lactaid pills? I use them all the time and it really helps with my lactose intolerance.
They sell them at Costco for alot cheaper than the pharmacies. Check Walmart as well.

Get a Doctors note too and fax it before the cruise. DD 18 mos was Lactose intolerant and had no trouble getting lactose free products.

To have 1/8 of a cup of Cottage cheese, I have to take 4 to 5 lactaid pills and it does not guarantee I won't get sick.

This is a cruel thing to happen to someone who loves cheese and thinks that ICE CREAM is the food of the GODS. :mickeybar

Have you tried Bryer's Lactose Free vanilla ice cream? My husband can't eat anything with dairy but we found this ice cream and he eats it by the gallon. I've tasted it and it tastes just like regular ice cream.
