Am looking to but a bike to communte to road on tarmac roads and being in the UK there will be the occasional bump and pothole! Woudl also like to use it on mild dirk tracks and in the New forest. I think I might need to hybrid and would welcome any recommendtions. had been looking at Ridgeback and Specialized

Can't help you with the bike thing, but im sure i read recently on moneysavingexpert about getting free bikes to cycle to work. might be worth looking in to.

Hi just mind and do not get a unisex bike, no such thing, they should be comfterable for male or female! trust me, Go to a big place like halfords, try lots of them, as to take them out to the car park if you want, dont be embarresed to take lots of tiem, I could not believe the differance when I actually got a bike that was comfy. I meant to say, yes I have always had hybrids, I like my bike, just got back , the good thing about hybrid is you can go up the forest if you want also, get mud gaurds for it though!!
Good luck and happy cycling, and do as I say not as I do and wear your hat and illuminious gear.:cutie:

Emily, Lens work had a scheme like that, and it was all a big hassle and not as nearly good as what I thought it was going to be when i seen the leaflet, maybe all the dif councils are betteror worse, Lynne
