Any Issues With SPG MasterCard From MBNA?

Hi Gang

I applied and got the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) MasterCard through MBNA. I wondered if anyone else has done the same or has had any experience using this card with the SPG points. With this card is says that on your first purchase you get 5000 spg points and on your first visit to a Starwood hotel you get another 5000 spg points. You also get 1 point for every $2 spent.

We currently have 7000 spg points and with the above said will have lots of points for our trip in June at the Swan/Dolphin. From what I understand at the Swan/Dolphin you can upgrade from a standard room to a club level room for 1000 points per night. We're staying for 11 nights so it should work out great.

Advice on this card anyone?

I use the card and I haven't had any issues. I've actually racked up a lot of points with it in just a few months. The only thing I don't like about MBNA is that you get a lot of phone calls about joining their insurance plan. Just read the contract carefully and you should be fine.

The 5000 point bonus for first use post to your account quickly. However, the 5000 point bonus for the first stay takes a few months to post. If you want the points for June, get the card quickly and use it fast.

We just canceled ours as MBNA not so slowly starts to rais the interest rate on the card we started at 14% and when we just closed it out it was at 24.9%.
