Any issues in having luggage transferred between the 3 DL hotels?

Looks like we will end up staying at the DL hotel at the beginning of the trip, and then switch to GC. Hoping that Disney will just transfer our luggage over to GC. There's never been a problem doing that at WDW, so hoping it's the same way at DL.

Thanks!

OK, it isn't the same. In WDW, you just leave the luggage in the room and they do the transfer and it is in your next hotel room. At Disneyland, you call bell services, you need to be in the room for them to pick it up, then you need to let them know you will be checking in at the Grand, and when you get to the Grand and are in your room, you call bell services to deliver the bags.

We are doing the same thing in March, but its a short walk on the way to the parks so we are just going to do it ourselves after checkout.

We transferred from the Grand to the Disneyland Hotel and when we asked if our luggage could be transferred for us we were directed to wait in the bell services queue and then told with an unhappy look, ‘I’ll have to walk it all the way over there on my own time you know.’ We gave a large tip and lots of thanks and then all was fine.

We were always going to give a good tip for the transfer but were surprised that the reaction we got indicated that it was an unusual request and not something they normally do.

You have to be in the room at wdw as well. The only time at wdw that they deliver luggage without you in the rook is when you use magical express.

Just making sure you know that to do this you will need to walk down towards the Paradise Pier then across Disneyland Dr. to the GCH front entrance. It's a bit of a detour from the regular route you would take from the DLH to the parks. If you follow the regular route through DTD you will have to go through the security check point with your bags. I believe you will have to open them all up and let them go through them like just like they would with a backpack.

It's not a huge deal to go around (or let them search your bags)- just wanted to make sure you're aware.

We did it, but it took a really long time to arrive, was maybe even temporarily misplaced.

When I go from VGC to PP (often do that split, for D23 Expo every other year) we walk the bags across the street to PP.

It is different with DL Hotel, kinda far to drag the bags. There I would have them do the transfer.

We did have ME for arrival. We stayed at Animal Kingdom the first few days of our trip, then moved to Bay Lakes. When we transfered to Bay Lakes, we simply left the baggage by the door and a note for the cold stuff in the fridge, and it was all delivered to our room at Bay Lakes by the time we were able to access our room at Bay Lakes. I liked their system. If someone is used to this system, DLR transfer can seem a pain. But I don't transfer hotels at DLR.

I’ve always been told at wdw that I have to be in the room for the luggage pickup and drop off so I think you got lucky with your AKL to BLT transfer.

We have done transfers at WDW many times. We had to always be in our room for pickup, and again in our room for delivery. Yes, you were lucky that your transfer was done that way. I'm just hoping that they transfer the luggage at DLR and we won't have to walk it over ourselves.

They will transfer it for you. Personally, I always walk the bags down to bell services on my way out for the day. Then when I get to the new hotel, I pick them up from Bell Services on the way to the room. But, you can have them come to the room as others have said. It really won’t be any trouble at all, so you don’t need to worry.
