Any input on DTD area hotels?

I just recently stayed at holiday inn and used mears transportation to and from, I prepaid 40$ rountrip ticket, from MCO to Holiday inn on hotel Plaza blvd. I also rented a car b4 I had them pick me up and drove to a walmart got a cheap suitcase or duffle bad and stocked up on snacks and bottled water and other drinks, cuz i had fridge and micro in my room at HI. Hope this helps

Thanks for the information! I've never used Mears. Can you pay for a one-way on Mears? I will use DME for return to MCO from WL. I've also considered renting a car for one day, picking up from MCO and returning at DTD. Thinking DH could drop us off at WL, return car to DTD and take a disney bus to meet us at the park. All of that, however, sounds like a lot of shuffling back and forth. I guess it just depends on how much $$ the DTD hotels are running at Xmas. I'm still thinking going with a value at Disney would be the easiest.

I've also have used Mears in the past and while it is convenient I'm with you in the thinking that it would be a lot easier and convenient to just stay at a value Disney. You've got to keep in mind that with the Mears shuttles they also stop at every hotel the other passengers are staying and that could take a while, and the cost of that plus the DTD hotel it would be more cost effective to stay at the value. Also keep in mind that your luggage will be moved by Disney if you stay at a value and then move to another Disney resort, that alone I would think is worth it! If you are staying at a value I would try for POP its the newest (besides the Art of Animation of course, if you can get in I would opt for that just to see it!). Another plus for the values is the food courts are very inexpensive, you can get a good breakfast for very little. Have a wonderful trip, good luck.;)

I really enjoyed the Hilton, it was a closer walk to DTD then staying at Saratoga Springs.

The Buena Vista Palace is right across the street from DTD. Again, even closer than Saratoga Springs

yea but the walking is easier with SSR - you don't have to cross a very busy street

oh by the way don't jay walk here - you might get a ticket. Since Disney had to change the lights - when you punch the crosswalk sign - all the traffic lights go red - so not even right turns are allowed. while you are crossing at the crosswalk.
