DH and I were out finishing up shopping today and we were talking about the DD's leappads that they have and use to love. They both would use them in the truck on trips, or at home when they were reading or playing the different games with them.
DD8 is way to far gone to enjoy the books they have out for them. They are just to far behind her levels. DD7 still likes some of the music ones and that sort, but again, the reading/math ones are behind her.
We were looking at the quantum pad, and saw that the old books/cartridges would work on the quantum pad. We also looked at what was available for topics/titles and grade level, and they seem to be 3rd grade thru 6th grade,
We decided to get them both quantum pads, as DD7 can use her old stuff that she still likes, and DD8 can use the new books/cartrdiges that are at her level. We even found 2 magic tree house ones that even though DD7 has already read those books, will enjoy. We got DD8 some of the 4th grade ones, grammar, math science and sports.
It was a toss up from these and the vtech kids laptop thing. I asked and found out that those were limited by the 4 cartridges that came with the 9 and up version and the 2 cartridges that came with the 5 and up one. My feelings were they'd get bored with them.
Do your older 7-11 year old kids have the quantum pad? your thoughts?
I'm sure they'll be a hit, as I remember the christmas they got their leappads. DD got the leap frog globe last year, and still plays with that thing all the time..she wants to go to Kazakastan on vacation!
