were on the Med in sept--and now we need to get a hotel for the night before the cruise

DU said there was only one hotel left that offers the transfers to the cruise--its the hilton

just wondering what its like and how the transfers work

this seems alittle pricey though $411 plus transfers but we like to have everything taken care before we get there

so any info on the hotel and transfers would be greatly appreciated

thanks all

I did the Med cruise last August and we stayed at the Hilton Diagonal Mar and got the Disney transfers. The hotel was gorgeous and right across the street from a shopping plaza. It is also right on the route for the hop-on hop-off buses.

DCL picked us up from the airport and took us to the hotel. We ended up doing an embarkation day excursion to Montserrat, but they took our luggage right from the hotel and we didn't see it again until it showed up in our stateroom. Love that perk to taking Disney transfers! If we hadn't done Montserrat, the same would have been true for our luggage, but we would have been taken to port instead of up Montserrat.

It was all very easily done and DCL has a representative in the hotel lobby who is there to help you with questions, etc.

We stayed there in 2014 before a med cruise and it is a pretty standard Hilton. Near the water and across the street from a shopping mall but out of the centre of Barcelona so not great for sightseeing. I booked the room separately (cannot remember whether it was Orbitz or direct with Hilton but something like that). I then added transfers for the cruise and there was no problem with not having booked the room through Disney. Disney's room rates were just too high but we wanted our luggage moved etc so worked out well. I found that taxis in Barcelona were not that expensive so if you're more than 2 people it might be worth staying somewhere more central and just taking a taxi to the port.

Was your Montserrat excursion through Disney?

I also stayed at the Hilton Diagonal Mar last September before the Transatlantic cruise. I really liked the hotel. I just spent the day relaxing at the pool. The rate with Disney was about $400, more than I would normally spend, but I wanted convenience. The rate included transfers and breakfast (very nice spread). The pool area is really nice as were the rooms.

I was on an overnight flight to Barcelona from NY and I was the only one on the transfer from airport to hotel (it was a van). Very personalized service!! A Disney rep met me in baggage claim area.

The provided a large bus for the trip from the hotel to the port. We met in the lobby (there is cruise personnel certain hours) and it was a very simple process.

We are doing a land based trip this August/Sept to Lisbon and Barcelona and just booked the Hotel U232 which looks really nice. Close to transit stations. Got good reviews. Much less expensive than the Hilton.

yet another question--I remember that before our emails got deleted that another hotel that disney works with is the Renicasence but it looks like that hotel is booked with the disney rooms now I can book it much cheaper on my own--since theres a disney cruise desk in the lobby can I get transfers from there when we check in--

it looks like though well have to get ourselves from the airport to the hotel though--if I look the room on my own

thanks for all the help--sorry for so many questions

My wife and I did the 12 night Mediterranean cruise last summer and booked the Hilton Diagonal Mar on our own. Had not booked any transportation to the port ahead of time. There was a DCL table in the lobby that we asked about transportation and they said that for just the two of us, they recommended just taking a taxi. We ended up taking the DCL excursion to Montserrat. They took the luggage and we enjoyed the bus excursion and saw our luggage once we got on the ship. On disembarkation day, we had a long wait until our evening flight, so we ended up booking another booking another DCL disembarkation excursion to Montserrat and took the funicular to the top this time and then then bus took us and our luggage to the airport. Still had plenty of time to wait for our evening flight.

Yes it was. I set it up with the Disney host who was stationed in the lobby of the hotel. I don't see it on the website now though. I only see the Debarkation Day one.
